It's World Homeless Day, and I'll just say: Homelessness isn't some great unsolvable mystery. People are homeless because they don't have homes. This suffering persists not for lack of solutions, but because enormous wealth and power are invested in maintaining the very structures that produce it.

"So many people are coming to us who have never come to the food bank before. It used to be people who were working hourly-wage jobs. Now we see salary employees." Maybe we should measure the "strength" of the economy not by the stock market but by the length of the line at our local food bank?

This story brought me back to Kara, one of the mothers in my book, There Is No Place for Us. She was homeless with her four kids while driving for DoorDash. They had to pee in bottles so bathroom stops wouldn't make her late. After gas, she earned $6.50 an hour—75 cents less than the minimum wage.

I have also been thinking about this as I had never heard of it until relatively recently. Going through school in Shreveport in the early 90s I do not remember that phrase ever being used. I definitely remember hearing about phonics a lot for sure.

I wish we did not have to resort to using so many extensions for this nonsense but that is the only solution I have found. What killed me is them removing the "details" view. My eyes do not process large loud thumbnails and carousels very well.

Uru is fascinating. Always meant to go back to Uru but I had burned myself out a bit with the previous Myst titles. It does have a way of calling out. Your screenshots have me thinking about returning as well!

Spider Fighter, along with Demon Attack, have aged so well over the years. I come back to these every year and they still feel great to play. They are part of an awesome group of arcade action games that do not have direct ties to an actual coin-op arcade game other than possible inspiration.

The golfer in front reminds me of the somewhat grotesque caricatures in the menu scenes of Road Rash for PC / PSX. It was a look that I never quite liked but it did suit itself well to Road Rash whereas with this golfer guy I have no idea!

Your ZZT is a really good read! Read it some years ago now and it has stuck with me. ZZT is always great to go back to and still has a very fun community. Your ZZT book also got me to look back at all of my teenage and adult years on IRC and how we changed and grew on there.

Had this cart back then and I think as an action-puzzle game it works just fine. Does it show off any interesting features of The Jag? No. Not really. Though it did keep me interested all the way through. DOS got three of the games under the name "The Humans" and they are fun enough too.
