I can't tell you how dizzying and depressing it is to go from one of most vibrant WGSS Departments in the country, making hires and taking names, to being rapidly extinguished, all within the last year. Making the Public Sphere White Male Again is happening fast. www.statesman.com/news/educati...

A superb short history of the mechanical reproduction/creation of artworks, starting with medieval scribes. This is worth a read, but in sum: artists gonna art. Link in comments so I can put a picture here.

I do love how this starts out with a tribute to early 20th century lesbian icons! Edith Sitwell, Gertrude (Stein) and Alice (Toklas). That's how Tim Curry does the Rock.

This is great. There was no need for Wilson to be so snarky about the film, especially because Nolan was so gracious about her translation. It's a summer blockbuster movie that is giving me the "hot epic poem summer" I didn't know I needed!

Best juxtaposition of title and subtitle ever. I notice that the press lists the subtitle as "The Chaotic Space Where Books Are Made," even though that's not what it says on the cover! What could it mean.

Nope nope nope. I served on the Research Integrity review committee on my campus; unattributed or wrongly attributed quotes happen. Mistakes are made. But whose mistakes are tracked down and become national news? Those whose status as belonging in the professoriate is already contested.
