Longest bike ride post bariatric surgery. Certainly this is the weather for it. Only two drivers honked at me. Good day all around.

Why is it "alarming" when a trust waits to raise the alarm about a public health risk but not when the government does it? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

NHS waited two days before raising alarm about meningitis outbreak
Experts say the wait was indefensible and possibly delayed identification of the outbreak.

Hotel says their staff followed the security procedures but then would not say what those procedures were. Apparently, you just need to give the front desk the name of the woman. They will give you the key AND the room number she is in. No more Travelodge for me. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

3rd week post op (gastric bypass on 13th Feb) and I finally got up the courage to get on the WattBike in the gym. Only 15 minutes. It felt good. Well, it felt as good as it feels to cycle nowhere.

First day back after a couple weeks of medical leave. And the towing pilot has continued on without me. Currently up to 750 vehicles towed since the beginning of the pilot, including this one where the plates on the dash don't match the VIN.

How are we STILL finding cars with no plates on the public highway? This is vehicle number 732 that we have had to tow since the beginning of this pilot.

We have now towed this Jaguar three times. THREE times. I don't really understand what the issue is with this garage, but they don't seem to be learning.

Crazy games being played with cars today to prevent us from towing. This kid removed a wheel and left the brake drum sitting in the mud to thwart the tow truck.

We lifted this vehicle last night for having expired tax and MOT. Checked with colleagues in Parking. It also has 60 unpaid PCNs.

Would you consider this van to be abandoned? Tax expired in November and it's uninsured; 4 flat tyres and a broken wind screen. The owner is saying that it was vandalised. Sure. But that doesn't explain the tax and insurance issues. We towed it.

I made a smug lunch today: egg mayo with homemade mayonnaise served on a lentil flat bread I made with cumin seeds. I will probably end up having McDonald's, but the intention was correct this morning.

This is a weird one: Thursday night we find this Tesla with no tax. So we lift it and take it to the pound. Then this guy busts through the electric gate on the pound and drives off in the Tesla. Police called. They have seized it. It's in their pound. It also has 58 unpaid PCNs.

Towed this one last night for having no plates on the public highway. The owner claims he bought it like that. Except, the plates are inside the vehicle. That's going to be an expensive lesson.

Can you believe we have had to tow this one TWICE from the same location for the same offence? This is after an extensive conversation with the guy who left it there about why it was towed and what would happen if it returned to the road in this condition. Did he think I was joking?

LisaB @lisacycles.bsky.social · 22/12/2025
During the first 3 months of the towing pilot, we have: - Towed 411 vehicles - Referred details to parking for 227 unpaid tickets - Seized a stolen blue badge (supporting a prosecution) - provided info to police that led to 2 arrests

Anyone remember this Porsche we towed? No registered keeper, no tax, no insurance, unpaid parking tickets. Now a guy with no proof of ownership reckons he should be able to claim it from the pound because he's a nice guy. That's not how this works.

"Tricks" people play to avoid getting a parking ticket: 1. Leave an old PCN on the screen and pretend it's from today 2. Take the plates off the car 3. Obscure the VIN
