The Vikram-1 #rocket will fly next Saturday, on July 18! This first test flight mission, named “Aagaman”, meaning “arrival” will mark a milestone for India's private space sector: being the nation’s first attempt to place a payload into orbit (LEO), using a completely privately developed vehicle.

Do you know Latitude? It’s a French company with passionate engineers that design a small-lift launch vehicle called “Our launcher”. The latest version of their 19-meter-tall #rocket is capable of carrying 200 kg to LEO. The first launch is currently scheduled for 2027!

The first test flight of Vikram-1 is currently planned between July, 12 and August, 4. This will mark India’s first private attempt to place a launch vehicle into orbit. This rocket is a small-lift launch vehicle designed to place around 350 kg of payload mass into LEO. #rocket #engineering #india

All eyes may be on the Starship V3 launch this week, but the European-Chinese Smile mission begins in a few hours! Carrying 4 science instruments, the mission aims to unravel the dynamics between the solar wind and Earth's magnetosphere. Go Vega, Go @esa.int, Go CAS!

Following a successful full stack wet dress rehearsal, Ship 39 (S39) has been destacked from Booster 19 (B19) at Starbase. S39 now started its rollback to the build site for final launch checkouts before next week’s likely #Starship Flight Test. video from NASASpaceflight

Full stack images of Ship 39 (S39) and Super Heavy Booster 19 (B19) are emerging. Following a successful B19 static fire test, and wet dress rehearsal of the Flight 12 full stack, we're getting very close to the first V3 #Starship launch! For now the launch date is set for May 19 (backup on May 20).

Last Thursday, #SpaceX ran a 15-second test firing of the Super Heavy booster stage. All 33 Raptor engines lit up for the full duration and at full thrust. You can see how the new Pad 2 and flame deflector system absorb and/or redirect away that massive load. Engineering at this scale feels unreal.

RocketLab CEO Peter Beck recently shared a sweet 3 minutes 40 seconds exhaust footage from the Archimedes engine, being tested at NASA’s Stennis Space Center for the Neutron rocket. Mach diamonds are hypnotising to watch, and especially the blue glow of methane fuel ✨

I enjoyed following the Integrity journey so much, I learned so many things about the ESM, and its propulsion module design which is an impressive piece of engineering. Learned so much about reentry dynamics, heat shield behavior and design. W engineers, W crew and welcome home in a few hours 🤞🏼

A postdoc at UC Berkeley, Willi M. Amberg, developed a free app called SynStrategy. It's a database of 500+ organic reactions, including total synthesis examples. 500+ named and unnamed reactions are categorised by the functional group they form, rather than an alphabetical order. (1/2)

Jean-Nicolas Dumez was my PhD supervisor until end-2023. He wasn't only brilliant, rigorous and endlessly generous with his time, but also a deeply humane person who stood for inclusion and making a better world. I feel very grateful for everything he shared with me, both scientifically and humanly.

The NMR community suffers a great loss with the sudden passing of Jean Nicolas Dumez. I'm deeply saddened by this news. His generous spirit and willingness to share his knowledge of science and NMR were unmatched and will be missed by many. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues.

Jean-Nicolas Dumez was an exceptional human being, someone whose intelligence and rigor I truly admired, committed to making the world a better place. I enjoyed every occasion to share his friendly company and witty conversation. What a terrible loss. 💔

Of the 4000 researchers at NIH, only 20% are tenured. They’re going to fire all the rest as their contracts come up for renewal, absolutely decimating research at the NIH. This is catastrophic, not just for Americans, but for the whole world. www.science.org/content/arti...
