Another Google Cloud Next 2026 is in the books, leaving behind a wave of announcements, innovation, and new perspectives on the future of cloud platforms. Among the most interesting updates, the extension of Clumio's capabilities to Google Cloud further reinforces Commvault’s vision of cloud-native cyber resilience, especially as organizations continue to expand AI-driven workloads, large-scale analytics, and multi-cloud strategies, where secure and scalable data protection is no longer optional but essential.

Cloud transformation has fundamentally redrawn the way organizations manage and protect their data. As enterprises continue moving workloads to the cloud, the conversation has shifted beyond traditional backup strategies toward a broader focus on cyber resilience, rapid recovery, and operational continuity. Each year, Google Cloud Next brings together thousands of developers, cloud architects, IT leaders, and technology partners to explore the latest innovations in cloud computing.

RSAC 2026 is in the books, and Commvault once again reinforces its vision of cyber resilience by announcing features and integrations around the concept of Resilience Operations (ResOps). In fact, organizations should not treat security, data protection, and recovery as isolated domains. Instead, they should be integrated into a single operational model that helps companies identify, respond to, and prevent cyber incidents and, when necessary, recover from them.

Another Cloud Field Day is in the books, and I still remember my first time in Silicon Valley for Cloud Field Day 2. That was the era of “cloudify everything”! The industry was moving fast, pushing workloads into environments where infrastructure was increasingly abstracted behind APIs. With just a few "clicks", you could spin up instances running on top of some of the most advanced infrastructure ever built, operated by companies like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft.

So let’s start by saying that Hammerspace aims to solve three key customer challenges: the complexity and time-consuming nature of cloud migrations; valuable unstructured data distributed globally but spread across multiple datacenters; and legacy storage systems that were not originally built to support modern AI and HPC workloads.

Cloud Field Day 25 is another exciting step in a journey that, for me, goes far beyond a single event. For those unfamiliar with it, Cloud Field Day is part of the wider Tech Field Day series: an independent platform that brings together technology vendors and industry delegates to discuss, analyze, and challenge modern infrastructure, cloud, and platform solutions. Creating transparent technical conversations where real engineering discussions matter is the main goal of the events.

This is probably my first non-technical article, and it comes from a quiet frustration I’ve been carrying for a while. In the IT world, everyone seems to be looking for “the expert.” The perfect profile. The flawless match. And in that rush, something important gets lost. I’ve seen headhunters scroll through LinkedIn profiles like feeds, seconds per person, eyes hunting for familiar words, bold titles, trendy technologies.

The 2025 is now behind... and it has been intense, inspiring, and remarkably coherent in one direction: platform engineering as a technical, cultural, and operational journey. It’s also a meaningful year for me, not because everything is changing, but because some things are evolving. Career growth, participation in important events as a public speaker, and vibrant, engaged community involvement have shaped my 2025 in meaningful ways.

Modern data protection is undergoing a fundamental transformation. At Commvault SHIFT 2025, the company shares the clear message that backup alone is no longer sufficient: organizations must adopt recovery-first, cyber-validated architectures capable of restoring clean, trusted data at speed. Among the innovations presented at the event, Synthetic Recovery stands out as one of the most strategic, enabling rapid, storage-side reconstruction of recovery-ready datasets.

AWS re:Invent 2025 has just concluded, once again delivering a wave of innovation and renewed focus on how organizations can secure, scale, and modernize their cloud environments. Among the noteworthy stories emerging this year is Clumio, now part of the Commvault family, continuing to strengthen its position as a leader in cloud-native data protection. In a landscape where ransomware, misconfigurations, accidental deletions, and region-level failures threaten business continuity, organizations need more than traditional backup tools.

At this virtual global event, Commvault, the data-protection innovator, has launched Cloud Unity, a new unified control plane that brings protection, threat detection, and recovery together across every cloud and workload.
