QT has shown he sometimes writes characters that are an extension of himself. And the fact that he is cast as that Gecko Brother, really just brings the creep factor to the max. Can’t say the movie has aged too well.

I tried to watch From Dusk til Dawn because it’s been a minute. Also, with all the randos pulling the “Sinners ripped of FDtD”, I wanted to squash any argument that it is. I got grossed out and barely made it to them in the RV.

It’s definitely genre bending. Part musical. A touch of historical drama. A vampire mixed with southern gothic. I feel some people wanted it to be a flat out vampire flick and refused to see past that. Also the sound design is top tier. It deserves an Oscar nom just on sound and music alone.

Have to say: Breaking Bad is a great metaphor for US colonialism. A man with a god complex, inserts their self into new territory. Makes allies to learn the land, only to break treaties and enact a hostile takeover. Ends up making bed fellows with literal knott-sees.

It’s also passing the blame. Instead of pushing Dems to campaign or just take the South seriously, they’re exempt for letting red states fail. Travel to those states and see how people are hurting. Or look at district mapping and see how gerrymandered a lot of areas are.
