@lincolncityfc.bsky.social reached another (unwanted!) milestone in yesterdays defeat at Sheffield United. Ironic as the first four of those came at the same ground in 1892!

Not the @lincolncityfc.bsky.social return to action we had hoped for but who became the 336th (out of 1375) player to make his 50th Football League start for the Imps? 📷 @bubstgway.bsky.social

As well as Lincolnshire Day October 1st is also the International Day of Older Persons. Both of @lincolncityfc.bsky.social oldest known Football League player and goal scorer are from the 1920's

Happy Lincolnshire Day "He's one of our own" is still a popular chant so who are the two Lincoln born players who have made the most appearances and scored the most goals for @lincolncityfc.bsky.social ?

On this day 131 years ago @lincolncityfc.bsky.social hosted Grimsby Town on one of the hottest days that Football League matches have ever been played on. It was eventful in another way and also created a bit of club history.

Having a sort through things and came across a stark reminder of just how far @lincolncityfc.bsky.social have come in the past few years. Average home gate in 2011/12 was 2347 and cash (and interest) was in pretty short supply when this novel fund raiser occurred.

Sad to read of the passing of George Peden. Voted 57 in the Imps Legends his 223 Football League starts is the 30th highest of any Imp. His 14 (3 missed) known Football League penalties for City is 4th on the all time known list.

As @lincolncityfc.bsky.social head into the club's first ever scheduled international break 11 points from the opening 8 games is a very impressive return even if the way they have come hasn't perhaps been as expected! 📷 @bubstgway.bsky.social

130 years ago @lincolncityfc.bsky.social went to 8th in the Division 2 table after an unexpected win at Small Heath. Such a high was quickly followed by plenty of lows!

Whatever one's personal views are of Lincolnshire Co-op they have proven to be a long standing supporter of @lincolncityfc.bsky.social and that will continue with the recent announcement of a new three year partnership between the two.

Excellent win for @lincolncityfc.bsky.social at Preston. At least 30 other opposition managers, like Paul Heckingbottom, final Football League game in charge before being sacked/resigning/leaving has been against the Imps. One Imp reached an appearance milestone 📷 @bubstgway.bsky.social

Well deserved point for @lincolncityfc.bsky.social against Southampton. 6th successive season that City have drawn the 3rd home Football League game of the season! Mikkel Ladefoged has joined (hopefully briefly) a group of Lincoln City players who have done what? 📷 @bubstgway.bsky.social

Outside of the Christmas, New Year and Easter periods September 1st is the most frequent date that Lincoln City have played a Football League match on. We've met Blackburn once before on this day winning 2-0 at Ewood Park in 1952 and going to the top of the Division 2 table!

Mention Imps and South Africa connections and everyone will name one man. Before Clive though 3 known South African born players appeared for Lincoln including one in the very first season 1884/85. He died on this day in 1941
The other two known South African born players are Bruce Grobbelaar and Davide Somma

Whilst it is events on the pitch that matter most off it there have been, and still are, many people in the Imps history who have played their part off it to help the club over the past 142 years. One such man died on this day in 1894.

Up and running in the Championship! Opposition supporters reaction yesterday was vastly different to that after our last away win at this level, at Southampton, in 1960 when we were praised as "one of the best teams seen here this season" by Saints fans after a 3-2 win 📷 @bubstgway.bsky.social

April 29th 1961. 23849 days ago since @lincolncityfc.bsky.social last played in the 2nd tier. Now the Imps are back. It seems strange to think that day was only 22518 days after @mfc.co.uk played their first ever Football League game at Sincil Bank in 1899!

2026/27 will see City play just six teams met in 1952/53. Late August start, Easter games and only a good Cup run or postponements to alter the fixture list once it had been published. Life was simpler then.

In 2026 £50 won’t buy you an adult replica shirt but in 1952 the newly formed Supporters’ Club provided the first team with almost a complete kit. No idea who paid for the shorts! The SC donated over £1.5million to City until 2021 when it joined forces with the Red Imps Community Trust

Less than a week until @lincolncityfc.bsky.social kick off the new Championship (first time since 1960 we've been able to say that although it was Division 2 then) season. It was back in 1952 though that City supporters were last looking forward to a season at this level after promotion.

The model personified. One thing supporters get disappointed about is how we perceive the destination. A club we out performed last season and a divisional rival but still in reality a bigger club than us. How on earth did we cope when Gareth Ainsworth was sold...to Port Vale! Good luck Jack

Over the 142 year history of @lincolncityfc.bsky.social the club has, even in times of struggle, often been blessed with excellent goalkeepers. One such man's birth was registered in the 3rd quarter of 1874 and for those who advocate former players becoming referees he did!

@lincolncityfc.bsky.social playing two fixtures on the same day isn't common but it has happened in the past. Most recently was 2019 when two games, both of 30 mins each way, were played at Gainsborough but the most notable was in 1940 and @drfcofficial.bsky.social were involved then as well

Long before @bubstgway.bsky.social started taking crowd photo's (no prizes from him) the Echo offered a free ticket to a home game if you were pictured and circled. No replica shirts back then and very few women but you don't see many shirt and ties today. Anyone ever win?

in 142 years and 5924 League and senior Cup games (or over 6500 games if you count friendlies, War time and Lincolnshire Cup) @lincolncityfc.bsky.social have only been involved in one first team game that finished 6-4. In 1930 in the FA Cup at a non league club. Guess who didn't win!

1 of 3 Born on July 8th 1914 Arthur Ellis is probably better known for his time as judge on It’s a Knockout but in the 1950’s he was regarded as one of the best referee’s in the world. He was in charge of the 1952 FA Cup Final and was at the 1950,1954 and 1958 World Cups.

With Sincil Bank undergoing a massive upgrade this summer here's a look back nearly 100 years when circumstances dictated a redevelopment of the South Park end of the ground that benefited @lincolncityfc.bsky.social supporters. The stand remained until 1990. What would £2400 buy in 2026?

Sad to read on various club websites of the passing of former @lincolncityfc.bsky.social player Paul Dobson. Paul scored the goal for Torquay in 1987 that relegated us to the then GMVC but later had a spell at Sincil Bank. Scored 123 goals in 289+77 senior games at 8 Football League clubs.
