@monkemma.bsky.social here showing us what journalists should be able to achieve with little time instead of click bait nonsense. Another excellent thread.

Yes that does seem a bit odd.

VAT on private education is one, but for the most part not have British MEPs waving toy flags and turning their back on the Od to Joy like sour juveniles.

I don't understand. Why is this polling useless? Seems rather encouraging to me.

This sudden change by starlink has nothing to do with the bombing of Russian data centers does it?

New IMF forecasts tell you 2 things about UK economy. Firstly, the British economy has proved resilient in face of the Iran conflict: IMF have UK growth as joint second fastest in G7 this year (forget forecasts, in hard data we’ve seen the fastest growth in G7 so far this year)

Indeed and it gives bregreters an off ramp. Which is important as any future join campaign will need to avoid the blame game. Louise Haigh is very clever.

No data centre should be built in the UK unless we have full sovereignty of the data stored and they use a closed loop cooling system and they generate their own power as a minimum requirement of providing planning. Otherwise it will not be the UK benefiting.

He is not condemning the execution, is he? Just the broadcasting of it. Strange that the USA is still so barbaric.

1. This will put pressure on Ukraine to stop bombing Russian refineries. 2. Does Putin actually have the spare diesel to export? I understand they are rationing it in Russia. 3. It may be all confected. Just a fillip for the misterms.

Limp Whim @limpwhim.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Even worse. If Ukraine keeps bombing refineries. Trump will say they're bombing our diesel. Stop. Putin falls off his chair with laughter.

The barbarism is not in the viewing but in the act itself. It may be the broadcast does more to end it than anything else ever has.

Most users of the app complain that it's boring. Nothing happens. There just aren't enough boats to make it fun.

All land borders are porous unless they build a great big fence or there's a natural impediment like a mountain. People often commute across borders maybe crossing everyday. Villages straddle borders. So it becomes less of a thing. Schengen/TCA is normalised. None of this is the case in GB. Mindset.
000
Limp Whim @limpwhim.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Schengen is not just about free movement within the member states but also strong borders with third countries. Confidence in the former is dependent on security at the later. The same is the case in the USA.

Limp Whim @limpwhim.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
In no way different except NI lies in CTA and Belgium in Schengen. Your point?

Limp Whim @limpwhim.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Yes, yes, we hear that quite a lot. Of course next year could see a reactionary shift within the EU. Let's hope we're the only exceptionalist.

Limp Whim @limpwhim.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
I have no problem with Schengen, I live in France with an A50 residency permit, and benefit from it whenever I travel. None the less we do need secure borders with the right to decide entry. Schengen helps with that.
010
Limp Whim @limpwhim.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
You're right and I understand where you're coming from. I was speculating on the possible reasons for the UK historical antipathy for Schengen. And all I can think of, apart from a hostile press, is our geography. Btw I'm pro Schengen - with EES -most secure borders on Earth. Safer in than out.

The border has been open since 1995. It has always been porous. There are an uncounted number of roads that cross it. Fields streams etc. This is true across the mainland. It's true between Belgium and the Netherlands too. But at the UK border you need a boat.

Limp Whim @limpwhim.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
I can't explain it. I don't know why; perhaps it's because it's an island with no land borders save Northern Ireland. Schengen seems risky. The France-Belgium border is so porous it's impossible to police.

Oddly research shows much less opposition to FOM than in the past. Broad support acceptance intact. If we went SM as stepping stone, we could find that acceptable without a referendum.

It's not for any PM to take direct action against a citizen, that's for the police. And when dealing with high profile figures they will want to make sure they've crossed every t that takes a bit of time.
