Being the youngest means holding the door, and watching as my older siblings pass through it and leave me. My sister just a few days ago, and now my brother last night. Both ill for a long time, cancer and heart disease. Life is short, Friends. Hug them tight.

My birthday is a reminder of loss. I ordinarily do not celebrate. Hard to hate it though, when my kiddos are ridiculous- Five cards, new stickers for my collection, some of my favorite candy and a lovely candle, and best of all, my son came from out of town. Life is a mess, and perfect.

The loss of these fungi would be catastrophic, ecologically speaking. I have a passing knowledge, from researching a book for a client several years ago, but my best understanding is that the oceans and fungi are the carbon filters of Earth, and are becoming overwhelmed.

Absolute goofy chaos... Hubs hit the big 7-0, and we had kids and grands and friends celebrating him. I'll be recovering for a while, my social batteries drained past nothing, but it was all worth it. Remember your people. The void can't hug back. Friends are everything, online and in person.

So, in February... Our house burnt. Husband landed in hospital with lingering post-pneumonia symptoms. Daughter landed in hospital with a stroke (at 29!) My elder brother went home from hospital... into hospice. I'm trying to stay positive about 2026 but...
