A flock of colander crescents for the eclipse
part of a pale blue chair mostly in shadow but partly in sunlight; within that band of light, the shadow of a hand holding a small colander, its holes appearing as crescents of light created by the partial eclipse of the sun.

adopting this as my reaction image for so many things at the moment
detail from a mixed media art work (painting with real seashells attached) showing a walrus pup against a background of sea; the walrus pup is looking sideways and down, with a mixture of alarm and WTF

Me as a small child in a pale frock, pink cardigan and red shoes, following my dad, a man in a dark suit, across a lawn. In the background there is a house with plants growing up the walls and my great-grandmother watching us from a balcony.

This afternoon's blue sky, 2.57 p.m.
Blue sky with some white clouds and greyer clouds; a small black bird in flight in the top right hand corner; a three storey red-brick old building in the bottom half of the image and another red-brick building to the right of the image; a wall with a drainpipe running up it to the left; a brick wall with some white paint on it at the bottom of the picture.

The hail stopped shortly afterwards; since then we've had snow flurries which I failed to video, and now this.
A green lawn in the sunshine, in front of a red brick 17th century building (college chapel) seen against blue sky with some white clouds.

Back at the NT again for my favourite thing so far this year. So many thoughts and feelings about this production that has made my brain light up, in ways I'd been missing more than I knew. #ManAndBoy
Illuminated poster for the show Man and Boy, artwork of a man falling with a younger man far in the distance. The man in the foreground has his face and hands lit in red; his clothes look black. The younger man is wearing dark formal clothes and looking in his direction. Part of the National Theatre's concrete building can be seen behind the poster. It is late afternoon.

done with my eyes shut; this result may come as a surprise to some of my acquaintance, as it did to me.

my workplace has interesting notions of what belongs on top of a Christmas tree (college is named after St Catharine and its semi-official motto/slogan is For The Wheel)

Not very clear photograph of a diorama coffee shop with Barbie doll working on laptop and a black-clad barista (Ken?) behind the counter. A sign reads OPEN. The image is unclear because of bright sunlight on the window.

A post for the tenth anniversary of my father’s death: me, Dad, and Grandma my great-grandmother). The original photograph is tiny and it’s hard to see the climbing plants properly (or anything else for that matter), but I like the sense of movement and determination in this one.

It’s such exciting music! Her brother clearly didn’t understand its restlessness and passion, or was uncomfortable with them (see photo), but seriously, GET WITH THE PROGRAMME, FELIX.
Programme note: The work was performed only once in Fanny’s lifetime, in private. Felix was greatly dismissive of her work, pointing out the the first two movements ‘are not in any particular key’ whatsoever. Perhaps her brother’s disapproval of her carefree disregard of classical convention was the reason she never wrote another quartet. However, equally importantly, she did not alter what she had written.
Fanny Mendelssohn’s music requires the players to adopt a unique mindset -it is a world away from the elegance of her brother’s music. Here we find something brilliant, raw and impassioned that refuses to be tempered by politesse and convention.
