I have PtG Skaven to work on, KO to arm, and finally figured-out Fyreslayers to paint and base! So what do I do? Work on Inneath elves for Ghost Archipelago 💀 My Heritor, Shalira, is leftmost wearing a slain rakshasa, one of the many assassins sent to hunt her down before her power can awaken.

Mostly Elves of Inneath models, with the dwarf acting as the Savage. Some geese and a goat from Warlord for the Beast Warden to summon.

To nobody’s surprise, the most abusive force in the race to the treasure ship is the insurance company. However, for the first time, the Captain is taken down! Ignobly too, as a horse tramples on him during the Angankorian Expedition’s retreat. That’s going to leave a mark.

After wreaking havoc in the back lines, the Captain stands in the wrong spot and gets horse boot in snail face.

It’s the 4th week of Ravaged Coast games… and everyone is coming in the late afternoon while I’m here in the morning 💀 One of our play spaces has moved us inside now and the card players outside - but today the table is for @sans-gravitas.bsky.social’s local Infinity Narrative Campaign and demos!

No longer outside in the wilds, we now are nestled in the quiet interior.

When we take 2-4 tables, these combine to form those tables and we own the entire interior if so!

Today is apparently the celebration of what is perhaps my favourite conversion project, the Curator-Magnate of my Sea of Scholars-based skyport and its great museum: Havard Erkansson. This action-alechaeologist's famed motto? "In ruin, opportunity."

Three years ago, I put the model together using Brokk's kit, a Subnautican from Necromunda, Bastian's one-handed hammer, and a scratch built base.

Here it sits in my display case with its large base. He used to proxy for a Celestant Prime when I needed one for Matched - will likely come back in the future as an Anvil of Apotheosis character. Loved him as an "Ally" though because even if Havard is on your list, he's not necessarily on your side :):

Krzzt the Conductive now nestled in the depths of the Doom-Rotor. He’ll be barely visible later except for his spear tip, but he’ll be there, lurking.

Krzzt is one of the Clatterclaw Reavers’ command coven, a Bilgeborn who rose through the ranks because of his seeming immunity to warp lightning and the inability of many warlocks to stop him from wringing their necks. His body is the “wire” through which the energy for the warp-lightning cannon flows. Ill-used to the light, he stays in the bowels, ensuring the wiring and rigging of the tank stay in operation by guarding the hole through which the Skaven broke into the tank.

This time, the battle is fought at a found entrance to the mysterious Orruk marshes, the next zone on the way to the antlion-volcano, Mt Doom-Doom. Again, the Doom-Rotor gets skitterleaped forward to grab an early objective and falls to cannon fire.

Another airship enemy (all these airships are proving Skreelin's place as a Mortal Engines YA protagonist)! The Poet is a mutated human who found acceptance in the Reclaimed city of Kroqstone and was baptised by the Kroxigor there. They seek a future for the city which accepted them.

Unfortunately for Clatterclaw leadership, they don't perform too great. After some fire from Le Capitaine Escargot Aeronautique, the Doom-Rotor skitterleaps near but fails the charge. With the Deckbreakers helping, they takes the ship down to 1 Health... and fail to chip that off before retaliation.

Le Capitaine Escargot Aeronautique is not a name I will be calling this very often when I can help it.

This amphibious mobile bridge is the command deck of the Clatterclaw Reavers' doom-coven: Warlock-Engineer Kirktail, Captain Tweek Figurehead-taker, Far-Seer Spyrik, and Krzzt the Conductive. They may bicker amongst themselves, but are together a mighty defense against interlopers like our heroine.

The Red Axes come to the Sundered Lands for Ur-gold in this region that has not seen duardin for hundreds of years. Perhaps the crashed treasure ship carries some. The Unfettered are refugee Darkoath of Aqshy come to join distant cousins and find security, but doing so requires a worthy offering...

Continuing to prep for #RavagedCoast PtG by readying my Anvil character - a coven of (arguing) engineers operating a stolen tank. Put it through a lot of vandalism and almost where I’ll be painting an actual Skaven! (4 will ride.)

The undercarriage nobody will ever see once it is glued in, so enjoy!

I’ve finally painted the bright vibrant tank with alternating colours I’ve always wanted to try… all for some rats to dirty it up later on. 🐀😩🐀

This side of the tank features a big gouge and some shields along the bottom.

This side of the tank has a festive array of Skaven triangle shields on the blue field as well as a holiday icon of the great horned rat.

After many weeks of dealing with the aftermath of my apartment flood, I finally set my spray booth back up and can now continue work on Clan Skryre and my PtG Anvil tank, all of which I need for Ravaged Coast.

The orruks went godbeast hunting (for fun) and stole this creature's eggs (the swamp-corrupted babies are now vulchaas). On the old map, this area was just a very big cave mouth. Now the subcontinent's refugees will have an even harder time ascending the higher ground of that region.

A forgotten story beat from 3e before we did a tour of Aqshy was we drew straws to see who caused the "Mystical Winter" of the Andtor season. Nobody remembers whom, but only the @rayraymz.bsky.social has a ready storyline, so now the orruks caused it by waking up this Godbeast in the highlands.

Dramatised this area a little: where the sea delivered the killing blow to the shore, a necrotic wound and a red bloom tide. Unfortunately, Kota Daluyong, a city turned to the Changer in the AoChaos, now fallen to Governor Olynder, was in the fertile delta. Corpses rest in waterlogged basements.

The basic premise of the Sundered Lands is that it is a predator subcontinent of Ghur that challenged the all-devouring sea and lost. Year by year, land sinks beneath the waters, farm plains are consumed, homesteads are lost, and ancient ruins vanish forever. "It is here our paths to glory meet."

Ravaged Coast is coming (soon) so it was time to revisit our local setting on Ghur, the Sundered Lands. Something major that happened between then and now is, of course, the Vermindoom, so I bought a one-time payment map program (Wonderdraft) and updated the region. (old left, new right)

As I finally am able this year after years of attempting to get my hands on it (from outside the USA/Commonwealth, was a challenge) to watch Twin Peaks, I am finding more and more reasons to have belatedly appreciated David Lynch, and this is probably chief among those reasons.

Karl Knights:
Aside from the memes and the arresting filmography, I was grateful to David Lynch for talking about covid isolation and drawing attention to the complications of being a high risk artist in a pandemic. I never saw him refer to the pandemic in the past tense, as so many do.
