styling, singing, and screaming this page marks the halfway point of my prompt list :) [ #flameshadowart #silksong | Crust King Khann, Pinmaster Plinney, Karaka, Craggler, Ductsucker, Curvesickle Skarr, Crust Crawler, Xero ]

a page of pen sketches of silksong bugs. in the top left corner, crust king khann dabs and shoots a giant spike of coral behind him at the same time. a couple karakas and a crust crawler watch from the background. top right is a large craggler hanging from the ceiling, waving its arms and spitting some acid. there's a chibi pinmaster plinney to the right. bottom right of the page is a large ductsucker chasing a terrified plinney. above is a lumpy ductsucker covered in its mossy cloak and staring with wet eyes. khann tries on a pair of sunglasses that accommodate all four of his eyes and looks at his face in a handheld mirror; plinney happily holds another pair of sunglasses while spectating. the mottled skarr that upgrades the curveclaw to a curvesickle is in a jumping pose with arms back and a curvesickle in each claw, reminiscent of skarrsinger karmelita's pose. a boggled karaka stares down at a crust crawler whose coral growths are wide and unruly. a craggler and the curvesickle skarr stick out of holes in the ground and sing with each other. a two-panel comic referencing a zine shows young xero look up at Khann with large eyes and ask, "daddy..?" The next panel shows Khann squinting in insult and confusion as he exclaims, "Do I LOOK like-"

a very fashion forward longbug [ #flameshadowart #silksongoc | Ensconce ]

A screenshot of an ask from anonymous: "making Ensconce answer yet more questions—could we get a little fashion show of your favorite head wrappings? some of the ones we've seen have been really nice :>"
Ensconce lifts the edges of their tattered rag as they say, "uh... sure. but don't look while I change."

Ensconce hangs from the top of the image and opens a blue, lifeblood-themed chest that has blue and purple fabrics in it. They are wearing blue wrap and it's got light blue swirls on it. there's a bronze brooch with a turquoise gem set in the center. They say, "i have a lot of different blues. I like using this brooch as a pin. Sometimes, I wear orange ornaments with some of these fabrics."
Another drawing shows Ensconce dressed in a bold wrap of lime green and yellow with orange and red feathers attached as ornaments to either side of their head. There is a long-beaked craw looking up at them appreciatively. Ensconce says, "Hayu likes to give me feathers. I arrange them different ways depending on my mood."

Ensconce wears a light grey college hoodie with the initials "HK" printed on the chest. Their first pair of arms goes through the sleeves, and the second pair of arms stick out below the lower hem. The second pair of hands are resting in the pouch pocket. Ensconce says, "This one must be from a very strange land. But they know how to make soft garments!"

Ensconce rolls happily in a tattered, reddish rug.

squash and swipe, creep and crush [ #flameshadowart #silksong | yumama, pharlid, drapemite, kratt, bell beast, stilkin ]

pen sketch page of silksong bugs. the giant lumpy jellyfish, yumama, has a pharlid crawling on its dome. another pharlid climbs a wall on the left side of the page. a pharlid swipes at a drapemite which startles. kratt stands around enjoying something. there are a mini bell beast and yumama to either side of him filling up space. another drapemite is below. bell beast takes up about a third of the page on the right side and it glares down at a startled kratt. there are two stilkin filling up the space above bell beast.

Made way more progress today than I was expecting! Got a good batch of sprites to work with for 5 out of 6 of the cast, and got a base down for dragonfly boy to work on more later! Time to rest my wrist~

Digital drawing of a humanized ladybug. She had greyish-brown skin, and light grey hair in chunky pigtails. She's wearing a rusty reddish crop top and shorts. She looks a bit gruff, and unamused.

Digital drawing of a humanized aphid. She has orangeish-yellow skin, and light brown hair worn loose. She has small pink and white flowers in her hair, and is wearing a pale yellow dress. She has her hands clasped and is smiling gently.

Digital drawing of a humanized mosquito. He has dark gray skin, and pale ash blond hair tied up in a spiky ponytail. He is wearing a sort of tan shawl over a light tan shirt, and shorts. He looks anxious.

Digital drawing of a humanized dragonfly. He has chalk white skin with a few brown spots, and messy grey and brown hair. He's wearing a grey baggy tank top, and black shorts. He has condescending and smug expression.

meals and maps, burning and burrowing [ #flameshadowart #silksong | Crull and Benjin, Disgraced Chef Lugoli, Shakra, Flintstone Flyer, Mortician, Memoria, Gromling ]

a page of pen sketches of silksong bugs. benjin sitting on crull's head. simplified drawings of crull, benjin, tacks, and a muckroach with its guts coming out. crull and benjin about to swipe a muckroach from the counter while Lugoli's back is turned. lugoli holding a wriggling gromling by the tail. a flintstone flyer standing and waving at the viewer. a flintstone flyer chucking a chunk of flintstone while a memoria lobs a voltvessel. a memoria singing nicely while a gromling leaps from the ground and sings back with jagged notes. a mortician standing around and making grandpa noises. a simplified mortician flopped on the floor. a mortician with a shortened body scampering like jimothy the raccoon. finally, to the right side stands Shakra glancing over her shoulder to look threateningly at the viewer. And in the space beside and below, another shakra with ridiculously long limbs stands and looks down at hornet who looks up with discomfort.

pen sketches of groal the great and scabflies filling the page. some are fairly neutral drawings of the bugs while there are also a bunch of silly ones. groal looking bored and then yawning, a scabfly with a impractically long scarf, groal blepping, groal stretched to have a sausage-like body to fill up space, and groal sticking their tongue out to catch a fly much like a frog would

I'm doing a character ask event on tumblr. Local swamp horsegirl gets a question about hotland horses. [ #flameshadowart #silksongoc | Honeysuckle, Crinum ]

A snip of a tumblr ask from twilit-beast which asks, "How does/would Honeysuckle feel about hardbone hoppers?" followed by a sketch of a young stilkin OC, Honeysuckle, looking excited and thoughtful as she says, "Cricri told me about them! They're so sturdy and hardy and can hop across really hot rocks as long as they're not liquid hot (whatever that means...) And they make hard thumps when they land on the ground!"

Honeysuckle continues talking, "Ohmygosh, I wish we had them here." A pause. "Well, I think they'd drown here, actually, so maybe not."
There is a two-sketch sequence of a hardbone hopper landing on a floating platform and then crashing through it into the muckmaggot water. Honeysuckle looks uncomfortable.

Crinum, a stilkin trapper, snickers and adds his thoughts: "I doubt you could even tame one. The bigger ones are vicious and will kick you to death easily." This is accompanied by an imagined scene of a hardbone hopper elder kicking Honeysuckle who goes spinning comically into the air from the force.
Out of the imagined scene, Honeysuckle protests vehemently, "They'll kick YOU to death because you're a meanie-head! They'd all LOVE me so much!!"

Doodle Dump - June and May [ #flameshadowart | lots of OCs - most are mine, a couple belong to friends ]

a collection of doodles from june. These include Hessi, Dupe, Phthalo, Melon, Trickle, Webby, Killian, and Drei, and feature Anitra, Charlie, and Atreus who belong to Trapito, Mari, and Little, plus Lumble and Mort who are Silksong NPCs. Multiple sketches of Hessi - looking bedraggled, sipping tea, wearing her jacket, and posing attractively. Lumble sits at the back of Pilgrim's Respite with Mort as they chat. Webby looks hungrily at something she's caught. Atreus has been drawn over a collection of silksong NPC sprites to match their poses and proportions; it is silly. A collection of doodles of Anitra poking Dupe in various poses. Dupe wearing Trapito's rag sona as a bandana with the rag's eyes positioned where Dupes presumably are; Dupe says, "Wow! I can see now!" A sketch of Phthalo sitting, looking dazed, with limbs kinda splayed. Melon sitting on the floor and working on a wire sculpted tree while Charlie rests on her abdomen. Three quick doodles of Trickle. A sketch of Dupe doing a cheerleader pose but holding mothflies instead of pompoms. Finally, Killian the swampert wearing a shirt that says "I'm a Zangoose" while Drei the zangoose looks skeptically at it and says, "I can't read that."

a collection of some may doodles, featuring Melon, Magnolia, Charon, Dupe, and Cyra, plus Argos and Atreus who belong to my friends Trapito and Little respectively. Melon is a large, fat glowworm beetle - she gives a double finger gun in one sketch and does a friendly lean over a smaller bug in the sketch below; the smaller bug looks flustered. Dupe, a very fluffy drain fly, poses with a skirt; their hair is long down their back and bangs hang over their face to allow only their silly smile to be visible. Charon, a lanky beetle with three horns and a long cloak, appears to have a tangle of fleshy tendrils with large claws at the ends instead of a right arm; in the next sketch, his horns have become extra spiky and he's got more tendrils coming out of his left shoulder. Argos and Mossy Fool chat - Argos looks very grumpy but says "This makes Argos glad." to which a happy Mossy says, "yay!" Beneath them, Magnolia is lying on her belly in a potentially seductive pose; she is wearing fern leaves as a frill behind her head. Finally, Atreus the wasp moth holds a mite and declares, "It's like you!" to which Cyra the wasp grumpily says, "No."
