I don't know the source of this photo, but it feels about right.
Grey squirrel leaping from a pine branch at an owl - looks to be a screech owl - who looks startled that a squirrel is coming for it.

Perfect photographic catch, IMO.

Still sick, so trying to write reviews is hard to think, but here it goes. This one is a 10 out of 10, a semi morality tale, how those in need find this along side shopping street, Kogetsu, and his magical candies that will fix things. He does meddle. Great translation. #booksky 📕💙

And saltine crackers. And chicken soup. And game shows. Also ginger is a medicine, if you get the ginger ale with real ginger in it.
Jerrod Brosean says (second comment) I don't know who need to hear this, but Ginger Ale is not medicine.

Broke woman inherits a house from a relative she didn't know existed. And as expected, it goes down hill from there. I'm lost because the timeline seems almost 1950s, but is modern. The "Haunting" pays out- it's good. Good ending. Good tension. Worth the time. 8 out of 10 #bluesky 📕💙

The British countryside, and older home, and a wife recovering from a serious accident; the husband bought the home while she was in recovery. There's ghosts - but are they ghosts? Marital strife, lies, and a nice twist ending I quite enjoyed. 10/10 Will buy for the library. #booksky 📕💙

If everyone would do this, it would helps sooo many kids with their comprehension skills, readings skills, writing skills and critical thinking skills. #justreadadamnbook
MobiLibrarian says:

"Get any physical book from a library or thrift shop. Have your kid read one chapter. Have them write by hand one paragraph about what they read. Talk to them about it. Your kid is now destined for the top 10% in the future. The bar is low and getting lower.

A family of 3 perfect accomplished daughters, a great dad and stepmom, a bio mother who has died years after writing a book about the haunted house they used to live in, fictionalizing it. But was it fiction? The perfect family facade crumbles, and the haunting is real. 8 out of 10. #booksky 📕💙

How to review without spoiling the story - how a family saves the worlds. I like the story, the obsession with 99, and the redemption arc for many of the characters. The ongoing effort because the story is not done. Thanks for giving it a third try, @chuckwendig.bsky.social 10/10 #booksky 📕💙

Book du Jour: There's romance, it's semi spicy (you can have a love story without sex you know) but the writing, the characters make up for that, for those of us who prefer the story line. Anything more I say would just spoil it, but I read a lot of it out loud to spouse - that good. #booksky 📕💙
Magic and Mischief at the Wayside Hotel by Elizabeth Everett

Shows a city street of buildings, with a kind of Victorian looking house set at the end of the street, an evening shot.. Does not look as the book describes, since the Hotel is at least 7 stories tall, but I appreciate the effort.

My favorite antique store is going out of business, one of those where you never know what you are going to find in there type of stores; one time I found a mini cat inside an tall octagon shaped jar. So I went yesterday for one last farewell, and I found one last thing - this vintage spider web.
1940s-1950s vintage spider and spiderweb Halloween decoration. Surprisingly sturdy. Missing and eye I can replace - I have eyes that small.

I took it out of it's bag and put it on the book cover to get a good picture.

Suggestion has been made by husband that I put it in one of the doll house rooms at work for Halloween. Daughter said that idea was very creepy!

Best part? This cost me one whole dollar!

I love finding vintage decorations like this.

So today was supposed to be the Babies first time out, since they are grown enough. Well... kinda. In total 8 of the 19 came out for part of the day; by 4:30, they had all retreated to the coop for a nap in the heat. We try again tomorrow. Prior to today, I'd cleared all that of heavy brush.
We're supposed to do what? Not even watermelon was fully tempting them out.Peak effort - more are under the coop. Both baby roosters came out today. All of this was 4-8 foot high weeds, brush and kudzu.

It needs a lower level mowing, but now we can see all the way to the "gate" between the trees into the woods and to the creek. I took several low hanging branches down as well.

I should have taken a before picture; I don't think I did.

I've spoken of Friend Dog many times; she was one of the many dogs an elderly friend rescued at his house; she chose us to live with after his death. Daughter got this great happy photo of her happily running free in the back field; she's a best girl and happily home.
Friend Dog standing in a mowed part of the field keeping an eye on my daughter who was mowing in the field above her.

Chicken shelter in the far background; they free range, and a small tree covered in kudzu that needs to be cut down anyway as we work in the never ending battle to defeat the kudzu.

This is the best quote I've seen in some time- succinct, to the point.
You are so easily manipulated and controlled, which is exactly how we ended up where we are in 2026. You are told what to fear, who to hate, what facts to reject, and which billionaire to worship — then you call that “thinking for yourself.” Meanwhile, MAGA politicians get degrees, marry educated working women, hire credentialed experts, use lawyers, doctors, consultants, and judges — then tell their voters college is dangerous, women should stay quiet, and experts are fake news.
That is not populism. That is not patriotism. That is manipulation.

To which I add - Unlearn your classism. Unlearn your elitism. Unlearn your ableism. Unlearn your ageism. Unlearn your sexism - because it goes both ways, and you are harming little boys as much as you are harming little girls when you define them buy a color, by a type of toy, by behavior.
Doesn't matter how you were raised. Unlearn your racism. Unlearn you misogyny. Unlearn your homophobia. You're an adult now
