They never cared about women’s sports before it became politically convenient. Equal pay? Pfffft. Rampant sexual abuse? Sorry that keeps happening. An excuse to attack a tiny population of vulnerable transgender athletes? “PROTECT WOMENS’ SPORTS!”

Mamdani gets applauded for hiring activists and being down with community organizers, and both considered signs of him being a different and better politician. But when organizers demand he keep his campaign promises, like his promised library budget, they get chastised by many of his supporters.

“Terrible things are happening outside. At any time of night and day, poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes.” “Families are torn apart; men, women and children are separated.” - From Anne Frank’s diary, describing the activities of the Nazis.
Screenshot from the website of the Anne Frank Trust, with a quotation from her famous diary: "Terrible things are happening outside. At any time of night and day, poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. They're allowed to take only a rucksack and a little cash with them, and even then, they're robbed of these possessions on the way. Families are torn apart; men, women and children are separated.
Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared. Women return from shopping to find their houses sealed, their families gone"

What I learned today is that the @nytopinion.nytimes.com doesn’t believe in young people of color in leadership. Time and time again people tout “seniority” and “experience”. 75 years ago, there were no women of color elected in NY. Where is “seniority” or “experience” to come from for us?

Families belong together. A 12-year-old alone on a sidewalk after an ICE raid. A father detained thousands of miles away as his child is born. A young makeup artist whose family hasn't heard from him in months. This is not "family values." #InternationalDayOfFamilies #FamilyDay

I do not give a shit if a fellow autistic person can pay taxes, go to the bathroom alone, or have a job. It does not matter, that are human beings who deserve care and their worth is not connected to what they can produce.

I mean, in a country that prides itself on producing "leaders" and buying all their books and holding them up as avatars of all that is good, the two principal leadership habits we're currently seeing are 1. laying down like a coward at the first sign of trouble, or 2., going full fascist.
