I’ve really enjoyed being a part of the Cold Spring Harbor Genetics and Neurobiology of Language course and getting to know the fantastic and creative trainees and faculty who have made this such a great experience. Apply!

I’m excited to share our new work, led by grad student Rajvi Agravat, using iEEG in 54 pediatric, adolescent, & young adult participants with deep neural network audio source separation to show how the brain prioritizes speech in audio containing both speech and music www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

HAPPY 75th, NSF! We’re celebrating this milestone by highlighting some of NSF’s most transformative accomplishments—innovations that have shaped our world and continue to drive progress in health, technology, the environment, and beyond. Read on 🧵(1/11):

Now they are gutting NSF. This is radical destruction. The Trump goal is to end scientific research in America. Our sense is that few people, even inside the government, have actually grappled with this reality.

My 1st experience working in science was at UNAVCO, an #NSF funded geosciences org. now part of @earthscope.org. So much technical knowledge I use in my neuroscience (!) lab was from that early experience. My PhD was then funded by #NSFGRFP. Ending NSF funding will devastate careers and innovation.

It's not just Columbia, it's not just DEI, and it's not just biomedical research: Trump's war on universities has frozen crucial science at institutions like Princeton, Cornell, Northwestern, and more. Our @nature.com team spoke to some of the affected scientists: www.nature.com/articles/d41...

hi, cis folks! if we *are* going to talk ACA, RFK's HHS proposed a rule to remove *all trans care* from ACA essential health benefit status. ~25mil people are insured by ACA & if 1% are trans, that's 250,000 people who'd lose access to care. that's bad! take 2 minutes to stand with trans people.🧵

What this administration is teaching Universities is that even if you comply - punish students for protests, ban masks, remove DEI from websites and classes - they will still defund you and try to break you apart. Basically, there is no point in complying.
