I received an email asking me to support the expanded school voucher program in NH. I don't support it for a lot of reasons, and the sender is not a direct constituent. But I still chose to reply, focusing on the financial impact it has, including driving property tax hikes. #NHpolitics

I’ve reviewed HB115, both in the context of the State’s constitutional obligation to provide education and in the context of the financial impact to citizens. On both faces it is a losing proposition.

First, the financial consideration: You’ve certainly noticed the increase in your property tax bill over the past few years ($10,780 in 2022, $11,686 in 2023, $12,908 in 2024). A large portion of that increase is tied to the shift in allocation of state funds for education. Put another way, the State has chosen to pull money out of the public school system, forcing municipalities to make up the difference. That gets passed along to you and every other property owner as a tax hike.

In my conversations with constituents over the past campaign season the cost of living was the absolute number one priority, and local taxes are driving that burden. I cannot in good conscience vote for a bill that further shifts the burden of educational funding via increased local taxes.

And then there’s the State’s obligation to provide education. For decades now the State government has shirked its constitutional duty. This has been decided in the courts, yet the State continues to fail. HB115 furthers this by shifting even more money away from the public education system with no plans to backfill it.

I have a duty to uphold the Constitution of the State of New Hampshire, and I cannot support a bill that undermines that obligation.

Diamonds are a waste product that are highly over valued due to propaganda. The final determinant of "actual value" is labor cost to purchase. This also explains value disparity, ie $1,000 to a rich man vs $1,000 to a poor man. Understand I am simplifying explanation due to character constraint

It's not a supply demand problem. Something even Adam Smith acknowledged is that Capitalism is imperfect and causes problems. The issue here however is that millionaires do not pay proportional to their benefit. This is unfair. It's also irrational.

Your math is wonky. Bottom 50% + top 25% does not = 100%. Top 25% pays 90% Bottom 50% pays 10%? What about the bottom 25% of the top 50%? Do they pay nothing?

If you are in drug discover and have experience analyzing data then you should know the answer to this. They paid 90% true. They also earned what % of all total income. Ignoring that is to paint a false picture. If they want to pay less there is a solution. Pay their workers more.

The reason you don't understand it is because as I admitted before you ever answered it. It's a trick question. You only had half the information. This is one of those cases where the answer is counter intuitive. $100 represents 10 labor hours. $900 represents 3 labor hours. Tim paid more work
