There are already hurdles in place to prevent people from acquiring weapons who are prohibited persons and severe penalties in place. You may be more progressive about these things, but look at what is happening in MN. They gunned down a legal conceal carry holder after disarming him. Rethink it.

In 1930s Germany, they disarmed targeted groups before committing genocide. They changed the law to make existing unlawful and committed atrocities after disarming folks so they couldn't fight back. The Constitution also protects 2A, as it should, as a final check on tyrannical government.

ICE breaks down an old man’s door, put a gun to his daughter-in-law’s head, and drag him out to be arrested in his underwear in 9-degree weather, only to let him go once they find out he’s a naturalized citizen!
A Reuters photographer captured the heartbreaking image of a man named Saly being taken from his house and marched into the cold by ICE agents, who didn’t even bother finding out who they were arresting.
Saly’s brother-in-law shared the terrifying story on the Hmong American Experience page on Facebook.
“ICE came to my brother-in-law Saly’s apartment, broke down the door, trashed the place, handcuffed him, and put a gun to his daughter-in-law’s head. They did not allow him to put on proper clothing and forced him outside in freezing weather.”
“Saly is a naturalized U.S. citizen. He has NO criminal record.”
“ICE drove him around for nearly an hour, questioned him, and fingerprinted him. Only after all of that did they realize he had no criminal history and no reason to be detained. They then dropped him back off at his apartment like nothing happened.”
“We believe they were looking for someone who previously lived there, but instead of asking for identification, they chose violence, intimidation, and humiliation.”
Every few hours, we get a new story of some outrageous act of violence and intimidation from these lawless thugs.
Just ONE of these stories should be enough to trigger major investigations into ICE and their withdrawal from the field — but it keeps happening over and over and over again as our rights get violated and our citizens get brutalized, terrorized, and thrown in prison for no reason.
How long do we need to suffer before someone takes action to put a stop to this?

The Insurrection Act in no way whatsoever suspends, closes, or bypasses the courts. It is not a suspension of habeas corpus. It is not martial law. It does not authorize rule by decree. It allows using troops for law enforcement but that's it. It's not an instant dictatorship switch.

ICE shouldn't exist in the first place. It was created by W Bush along with the Patriot Act. The whole purpose was to violate peoples' civil liberties and create an overreaching surveillance and police state. Immigration regs are an extension of racist policies such as the Chinese Exclusion Act.

Our tent-pole issue is pro-immigration. It is our fundamental value in respecting human dignity. We support electing pro-immigrant candidates whether they are more "left, moderate, or right" strategically to defeat fascism. We have ideal policy preferences, but priority is: ICE must be abolished.

There are many liberal-minded people who reject anti-compete agreements and want to break up monopolies to ensure competition. Liberalizing things like cannabis and immigration are good things. Plus, we definitely want high trust institutions and a robust judicial branch to protect peoples' rights.

If the stats were like they were back in 2008, that would be a different story. But right now a pro-immigration coalition must align with constitutionalists like Amash to win. Otherwise like the DNC, forget justice issues and immigration and be more socially conservative and economically populist.

We need to limit government power as much as possible to fight against authoritarianism. Our priority right now is supporting candidates, politicians, and advocates who will stop the tyranny, ideally abolish ICE, and pass pro-immigration reform.
