In the Enterprise episode “Storm Front”, when Captain Archer escaped from the Germans and was recaptured by the Americans, the writers missed a golden opportunity. He should have said “oh boy”. Totally a wasted moment!

My mom’s in the hospital. She had afib last night and they couldn’t get it under control. This isn’t the first time but this is the first time they kept her overnight. She’s 73. Lost my dad 5 years ago. I’m not sure how to feel right now and I can’t think because I have to go to work shortly.

Started a new book yesterday. The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson. Picked it up from a local indie bookstore. Not sure what drew me to it but reading the description got me intrigued. The store owner raved about it when they read it. Only 30 pages in so far but it’s hooked me already!

So the Enterprise episode “A Night in Sickbay”, at the end where Archer has to do a ceremony bare chested with body paint and hair braids, the Kretassens are just pumping him, right? When the crew leaves, they’re like “I can’t believe he actually did all of that! This is going on the net.”

Was walking out of my therapist when I felt and heard a snap. Found that my left espadrilles’ strap broke. I don’t wear them often. I might be able to fix them so it’s not time to throw them out yet.

Totally non issue. Not sure why I was even concerned. Evidently I had changed my preferred name online a while ago. Checking in they confirmed my legal name and once the tech said “his” (referring to test results) but immediately corrected to “her”. She apologized and I thanked her for that.

Was falsely accused of stealing at the self checkout at Aldi today. Made me so angry. Almost just left my stuff there and walked out. But had to get over that pretty quickly as I got a call from school that my oldest may have broken her arm. Now at urgent care getting her checked out.

Did a bunch of house projects today. Fixed the washing machine. Replaced the shower head. Replaced the kitchen faucet. Removed the garbage disposal anddrain ring and replaced the drain ring. May still have to replace the disposal though. Also, cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner. I’m tired now.

Wife was quizzing the oldest on the 5 oceans of the world. She got Atlantic, Pacific, Indian and Arctic Ocean’s but had trouble with the last one. I said I knew what it was. Everyone looked at me and I exclaimed “Billy!” The wife laughed. The girls were confused.

I just realized. 24 years ago to the day, I started working for the great big rolling railroad. I’ve now worked with people who weren’t even born when I started working for the railroad. I still have about 12 and a half years left to go.

I haven’t been paying attention to fuel prices. Just saw a gas station in Topeka, Kansas with diesel at $5.89 per gallon. My 2009 Jetta takes diesel. I might have to park it as it’ll be too expensive to drive. I really hate how much we’re winning.

I remember where I was that fateful morning, 25 years ago. I was home sleeping still. I was woken up by a friend calling me. He told me to turn on the tv. I asked him which channel. He said it didn’t matter. Those words stuck with me on the severity of what happened.

Bought a new dress last week on clearance from Torrid. Tried it an and it fit fine. Tossed it in the wash before the first wear. Sadly, a button that held on one of the shoulder straps came off. I did find it so that’s a plus. Today, I sewed it back on! Now the dress is good to go!

Took some stuff over to my mom’s this afternoon. On the way home, I had to call 911. Saw a burning vehicle on the side of the road. The occupants appeared ok and safely out of the vehicle. The operator said that someone else had already called and help was on the way.

Some more time for myself today. Too hot to do anything. But I did manage to finish some earrings for a friend and get them set off (to the correct address this time!) also swapped out a bad electrical outlet. Today was a good day to stay inside.

The wife does attend church with her family and also takes our girls. I am not religious at all and she never asks me to attend. She doesn’t really like it though when I ask her how her cult meeting went when she gets home.

Watched the latest episode of Ted Lasso and in it, Ted talked about an inspirational quote: “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” and damn, if that doesn’t hit me right in the gut.
