Three-story red brick L-shaped mid-century apartment building. Large brick piers bisect each wing and decorated with a checkerboard pattern of wavy clear and white glass blocks.Closer view of one of the piers and the seemingly randomly placed glass blocks.

River Grove, Illinois. I'm not sure how to categorize this one.
One-story red brick cottage with some Tudor Revival influences. The roof is a side-facing clipped gable. The entrance on the right has an arched opening and a steeply pitched cross gable above it. There is a three-sided brick bay that dominates the facade and is decorated with red tile along the bay's flat roof. Small windows on either side of the bay are bordered by stone trim.

Dawn and the first latchet of heavy light was seeping over the downs.
Along the quiet chalk lanes and the old Roman roads, edged with teasels and burnt dock and tall purple daisies, came the Newcomer.
A fox of the North wind, teller of tales, righter of wrongs, bringer of deep autumn and the golden tide of the high angels of harvest.
His wagon was gold too, and the clear blue of September skies and the startling red of rose hips.
Above him, the hawks cried and made their circles, tours known to heaven, as old as the earth.
