Quotes from the a WIP: Lyra was becoming fluent in a new discipline, and it was nothing she had ever trained for. The discipline was this: how to walk through a public market wearing a silver collar and very little else, and to do so without either fleeing or dying of embarrassment.

May Day is more than a holiday. It’s a reminder that working people have won before by acting together. @milesklassin.bsky.social reports, the fight against billionaire rule depends on renewing that solidarity now.

May Day and the Potency of Solidarity Against Division

International Workers' Day, aka May Day, represents a fight for a different vision of society—one where we, not a billionaire minority, can make the decisions that impact our lives.

WIP, rough draft snippet: "Bryan watched as the boar came out of the underbrush. His dueling sword, was the wrong weapon for this situation but the animal was too close to use his crossbow effectively. Fortunately, the boar did not immediately charge. Bryan took a deep breath and tried to focus."

Please 🔃 for visibility! Head's up for all current content creators on #Patreon or anyone who hopes to be in future! Patreon is increasing their fees from 🔥8% to 10%🔥 for all creator pages published after: ✨ August 4, 2025 ✨. More info at the link 👇🏻 support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/art....

Prices will change after August 4, 2025. Existing creators with published pages will not see any increase.

We’re consolidating our pricing to a standard 10% platform plan + applicable taxes and standardizing our payment processing fees for creators who publish a creator page after August 4, 2025. If your creator page is published before or on Monday, August 4th, 2025, your pricing plan will not increase.

You can lock in a legacy pricing plan by publishing your creator page before or on August 4th, 2025. To keep legacy platform pricing, your creator page must remain published after August 4th, 2025 — if you unpublish your page or if Patreon unpublishes your page for any reason, you’ll be subject to Patreon’s new, standard 10% plan + applicable taxes and payment processing fees.

Get the details about this change and what to expect as an existing or new creator by visiting our guide on the upcoming pricing changes.

"Down And Out In Dystopia" isn't a story I'm writing -- it's a setting. After roughly a millennia of being gone from the world, magic and magical creatures have returned. But that heralded over a century of wars, pandemics, and mass death.

I owe $2100 in rent this month and my unemployed ass doesn't fucking have it. If y'all are wondering why I'm behind on writing, that's 🤬ing why. Every ounce of my drive and creativity has been going towards making ends meet. Unfortunately, writing stories for free pays $0 and I've got bills to pay.

My cartoon for this week’s @theguardian.com Books

Title: How to focus on writing your book

There follow eleven tiny images telling a story. The captions read:

Turn your devices off (a writer with a phone and laptop. The screens are dark).
Put them in a drawer.
Lock the drawer.
Throw away the key.
Leave the house.
Do not look back.
Keep to backroads and hedgerows.
Feel your old life slip away. (the writer has shed his clothes)
Sleep by day.
Forage in the evening.
Write by the light of the moon
When you have a passable first draft, commit a minor crime and use your phone call to contact your agent. (the naked writer is in a prison holding a phone while an unamused police officer looks on).

Komodo Dragon boyfriend with a fearful-avoidant / disorganized attachment style. Komodo dragon BF = will leave warm rock only to feed, fight, or occasionally 🤬. Bites are highly infectious, almost poisonous. Will attack when he feels threatened. There is little consistency in what a threat is.

Fantastic piece analysing the parallels between the alt-right movement & the intimidation tactics employed by Kirsche & her fans. So far Kirsche & her fans have silenced at least two publications. This is censorship by stochastic terrorism. It has to stop. #IStandByAnaValens #ProtectPressFreedom

The use of fans to engage in harassment and death threats is an established tactic of alt-right pundits and movement leaders. By publicly saying they oppose harassment, but doing nothing to disavow, they can remain legally above any actions the groups they lead commit. This approach is known as stochastic terrorism.
