It is a remarkably poor choice, it just doesn't seem particularly surprising from KONAMI. Even still, this seems to be for the CHN/Portugese release of the game given the original was dubbed into every PAL language, I have no idea why you think I'd refer to it as "excusable" given my track record?

I've been critical of KONAMI's handling of Yu-Gi-Oh's localization since I was a literal child, and am still critical of it to this day. I have vehemently fought against generative AI's use in Pokémon to the degree I've been harassed over it, literally every time it has popped up.
