terrible winter for civilians as ukraine cant stop jet drones or glide bombs. But i expect it will also be bad for ru soldiers. Ukraines “middle strike” drones keep improving. They will be cut off from supplies, without foliage. Casualties this winter will be enormous.

writing a proposal now about topology and zoom levels for transit maps built from gtfs and netex. multilevel topojson for transit. There is low hanging fruit. much work done for metro but buses and lrt have special concerns. if we dont win i may try a “crowd sourced science” project.

Bots running on remote machines are one actually useful new tech. I have bots that check the status of all my paper submissions and reviews due, and keep them updated in a notion. Lessens the feeling that there is some task out there unknown that ill be late on.

new tech is changing our soundscapes - data centers are loud - drones are loud - electric lawnmowers/leafblowers etc are quieter - electric vehicles are quieter at low-medium speeds - people play loud videos on transit and in cafes - people wear noise cancelling airbuds/headphones

wonder what to call this type of causation. during the 2010s, the price premium for hybrids fell 2/3 but demand didn't budge. the premium has been constant since 2020 while sales rose 5x. seems designed in a lab to make someone think demand has nothing to do with the price premium.

im sort of a horror and indie film fan, and i didnt like camp miasma. i didnt like that the campy 80s slasher within the movie had CGI. movie also didnt know how to end. Im sure everyone had fun making it, and the styling (eg mattes) was good, but it wasnt good.
