Interesting! Kari Frederickson wrote about gender and the Dixiecrats in “Jumpin’ Jim Crow” (2000). Worth a read. I hadn’t appreciated how prominent it was in their States’ Rights rhetoric.

Delighted to see my first peer-reviewed journal article in print! Here I explore the GOP’s campaign in the South in ‘48.
