New from the lab: melanocytic lineage–specific #lncRNA DDERMAL interacts with the DNA Damage/Repair machinery. Its loss in dedifferentiated #melanoma revealed unexpected biology. Dedifferentiated cells repair damage better and are thus sensitive to #Olaparib! #iscience 💡 www.cell.com/iscience/pdf...

lncRNAs as Targetable Nodes of Oncogenic Networks Underlying Cancer Progression and Therapy Resistance
The human cancer genome contains a substantial proportion of nonconserved regions that are transcribed into long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and hosted in areas recurrently implicated in cancer. Due to i...

Reaffirming the value of model organisms in training scientific minds - Nature Cell Biology
As biomedical research prioritizes human models and translational promise, classic model organisms are increasingly dismissed. Here we argue that they have a lasting value, both in enabling discovery and in cultivating scientific thinking, by training researchers in systems reasoning, integrative thinking and independent inquiry.
