A regular reminder that bluesky is not decentralized, at least not in any meaningful way. Also, responding to this message saying "it is, you idiot!", does not make it so, and only proves you don't want to learn why because you don't actually care...

Happy #PansexualPride Day!! 🩷💛🩵Here's something I drew awhile back for my hubbirb, @lettosprey.bsky.social. Ospreys have pan pride built right into their names: Pandion haliaetus! 😁 #DigitalArt #medibang #PanPride #PanFlag #osprey #FishSock #feathers #emblem

Digital art done on Medibang for my hubby, showing a smiling osprey head holding a golden flagpole in their beak. The "flag" is a fish-shaped windsock in Pan flag colors. Two osprey feathers, crossed at the barbs, surround the head in a circular emblem, with the words "Pandion Pride" on them. The background is a circular blue sky overlaying a square Pan flag.

After bsky silence trans voices, I see a lot of peeps here needing to justify their decision to stay here by spreading lies and misinformation about mastodon/fediverse. Reading between the lines, it is apparent that billionar capitalists are preferable to autistic nerdy geeks.

As bluesky is doing as bluesky was expected to do, play the capitalist handbook and start blocking people deemed "too bad", maybe it is time to dust off your federated account, or if you do not already have one, create one? "But, Bluesky is federated!", not it isn't. So, what is a federated account?🧵

We decided it is time to watch some stuff to distract ourselves from the absurd mess going on in the world right now, something that can ground us and bring some feeling of reality back in our lives. We'll start with the episodes of Back Mirror we still have not watched, then House of the Dragon.

Are you shaming people that drive an older Tesla? Are you putting "NAZI CAR!" stickers on every Tesla you see? Please stop now. TL;DR: I do not own and never owned a Tesla, but I rather want to see what I can do to stop evil now rather than shame people that didn't know. tech.lgbt/@lettosprey/...

A silly Valentine's pic I did this eve for my hub-birb. 😁 Will color it tomorrow, because I gotta sleep now. 😅 (This was my response to the little baggy of fancy chocolates he got me today.) 🥰💘💝 #art #wip #digitalart #furryart #furry #birbs #vday #albatross #osprey

Digital b/w Valentine's WIP lineart of an albatross opening her bill wide to nom on the head of her osprey mate, who is holding a little clear baggy of fancy chocolates shaped like sea creatures. She also has her wings around him, and there's a heart-shaped border around them both.

artistic liberty commissions need not always be a fancy theme, sometimes you can just have me make the most realistic version of *insert irl creature here* that I can manage, because as much as I adore making up creatures like sushi themed raptors, sometimes it's nice to try and copy mother nature

I get kinda bothered to see people stating how wonderful it is to be on a "federated network like Bluesky". Bluesky might be neat and whatnot, but federated, it is not. Not in any way that would make sense to call a social network federated. It is a false advertisement at it's finest.

Lett Osprey (they/them) @lettosprey.bsky.social · 14/03/2024

Following Blueskys "users can host their own data" idea of federation, it is clear that Bluesky will not support true federation with the freedom it gives. This is a placeholder account. I have no part in nonfederated bluesky. Find me here on any activitypub instance tech.lgbt/deck/@lettos...

The ability to restrict who gets to see your post, to limit a post to certain people, is fundamental for a social media platform. I will not actively use bsky until this is in place. Until the network is open for all, not invite only Until it is ACTUALLY decentralized, not just claiming to be.

NGL. I would feel a lot better about this place if they could present a business model that made sense. They have a business model. It makes zero sense. Either, they have a hidden model, or they plan to fail, pocketing investor cash. This should answer why I am not going to be very active here.

This is me setting up here to see how this ends up. I am primarely on Mastodon now, but much prefer anything that will support a non monopolitic social network model, as Bluesky claim they will, so I check this out too. No longer active on FB & Twitter. mastodon.green/@panduck
