When you pitch this crap about Mike Rogers as a "subscriber exclusive," it simply reinforces my desire to NOT subscribe, @nbcnews.com. This wasn't worth the time it took to post. "We'll find out if Iran war was a mistake?" THAT'S your exclusive? It says and means nothing!!!
NBC News Exclusive: For subscribers, Michigan GOP Senate nominee tells Tom Llamas "we'll find out" if the Iran war was a mistake.

Adventures in batshit crazy GOP polling, part 2 [see photo for full story]. By the way, they're using call centers overseas for this nonsense! cc @abdulelsayed.bsky.social @christinahines.bsky.social @alexhawkinsmi.bsky.social
The Republican push polling this year is so unhinged (and being conducted by Indian call centers!). This is the second one I've gotten where the questions are written like this:
"[Democrat] is a socialist who didn't prosecute human traffickers, hates tax cuts, and supports transgender surgeries for children
[Republican] was a soldier who guarded the southern border and is now a cop.
Who would you vote for?"
Nepo baby Bouchard Jr. is scared of Christina Hines and his complete lack of job experience by comparison, because the "example" question above was the only one that asked about him. EVERYTHING ELSE was irrelevant or inflammatory worded questions clearly meant to change my mind.
Also, when asking about the Senate, I was asked if I was voting for "socialist" Abdul El-Sayed, and then asked if I supported the $60 trillion Medicare For All. They must be confusing Medicare for All with the national debt under Trump.

Went to check a reference on Twitter using Xcancel, and was greeted by this. It's like how every click on X sends you to the app store, even if by accident, trying to make you join. They are desperate to recover lost members. don't let them.
On Monday 24th August at 8PM EST, we received at letter from X Corp. asking to cease and desist the service XCancel.
The service XCancel is stopped until further notice.
We are seeking legal advice and won't share more details for now.
Thank you for the trust you have put in these two years of XCancel.

Both could've happened! BJ did not do his job in getting comment from WWE and/or ESPN, but that does not rule out reflexive threats of legal action against a website with meager ability to fight it. What ISN'T in the highlighted part is what caught my eye.

Statement on our WWE-ESPN report

Yesterday we published a report from BJ Bethel on WWE's relationship with ESPN. We are retracting that story in its entirety.

Before a story like this runs, the subject deserves a direct chance to respond, and that step wasn't taken to the appropriate standard. Since publication, it's come to light that this effort fell way short. We ran it and the buck stops with us.

We've parted ways with Mr. Bethel, have had our verification procedures reviewed by an outside partner, and updated our process as a result.

Politico is actively covering Mike Rogers's "Democrats for Rogers" as a real thing. He got someone who's already on the verge of flipping parties as his token, and of course she did this AFTER retiring from the seat. Such courage!
Whitsett, who has most recently been a reliable vote for House Republicans when she comes to Lansing, didn’t directly criticize El-Sayed. Rather, she claimed Medicare for All, a hallmark of El-Sayed’s platform, would over-involve government in healthcare.

Wayne County went for Stevens, you senile pants-shitting fascist. And she still lost! Did the GOP counties "rig the vote" too?
A TS post by Donald Jackoff Trump at 9:28 am, August 5th: Wayne County (Detroit) in Michigan is one of the
most corrupt voting areas in the United States, if
not the World. It is strictly Third World! Miracles
happen in Wayne County, including more votes
being cast than there are voters, by a lot.
Therefore, the Communist, who is not liked in
Detroit, is potentially in "Vote Counter" trouble.
The Radical Left Socialist has a real shot, and
don't discount all of those fake mail-in ballots that
will "surprisingly" show up at the last moment. Get
ready for another Rigged Election. In November
we must VOTE FOR MIKE ROGERS, and make
Michigan TOO BIG TO RIG. God Bless America!

I was push-polled by Action Research today, a known MAGA outlet, about the state leg seat I live in here in Michigan. The questions about @alexhawkinsmi.bsky.social were INSANE. The most pickle-brained nonsense imaginable.
"Alex Hawkins believes knowingly giving HIV and other STDs to other people should be decriminalized in Michigan. Does that make you more or less likely to vote for him?"

"Alex Hawkins is endorsed by the radical left groups that want to defund the police and put violent criminals back on the streets. Does that make you more or less likely to vote for him?"

"Alex Hawkins is aligned with the radical left in Washington behind the Green New Deal and wants to make your gas-powered car illegal. Does that make you more or less likely to vote for him?"

"Alex Hawkins believes boys should be able to compete in girls sports and win medals. Does that make you more or less likely to vote for him?"

Answer choices:

• Definitely more likely

• Somewhat more likely

• Somewhat less likely

• Definitely less likely

• Not affect

• Not sure

The best line Aaron Sorkin may have ever written was MIchael J. Fox's in The American President (RIP Rob Reiner). It's so true right now. Democratic leadership has been abysmal in the last eighteen months. Jeffries, Schumer, Durbin, etc have failed. Platner stepped up and people wanted it.
"People want leadership, Mr. President, and in the absence of genuine leadership, they'll listen to anyone who steps up to the microphone. They want leadership. They're so thirsty for it they'll crawl through the desert toward a mirage, and when they discover there's no water, they'll drink the sand."

Assuming that this is true, was Janet Mills even trying to win? How is it that the governor of a state with the support of the Senate minority leader found absolutely none of this on her own? Also under that assumption, how does a candidate think none of this will come up? CLOWN SHIT.

As a @thepistons.bsky.social fan, this is f'ing insulting by USA Today in their Giannis trade story. The Pacers are in the basement. Pistons won 60 games and were the #1 seed in the playoffs, but no mention here. LAZY reporting.
In many ways, this move is a direct maneuver to compete against teams like the Knicks, Celtics, Pacers and Cavaliers in the East. And after the fan base had clamored for Riley and the front office to take a big swing to land a star, this trade appeases those who had started to wonder if maybe it was time for Riley to step down.

5. CIA's declassified comment (see photo) notes it was "most bizarre" to order an attack on such flimsy evidence. This came AFTER IAF pilots had identified the Liberty correctly an hour before. 6. CIA also noted given IDF standards, it's difficult to attest this attack solely to ineptness. (4/)
1. The preliminary report of the special Court of Inquiry convened by the Government of Israel has concluded that the "attack on the USS Liberty was not in malice; there was no criminal negligence & the attack was made by innocent mistake." The report, however, has been turned over to the military judge advocate who has ordered a preliminary judicial inquiry by an officer empowered to convene courts martial.

2. According to the Israeli findings a chain of 3 regrettable mistakes led to the attack by Israeli jets & torpedo boats upon the USS Liberty on 8 June 1967.

First Mistake

3. The first mistake was decisive & set the scenario for the subsequent errors. On the basis of erroneous reports, the Israel Defense Force (IDF) was convinced that Israeli positions near El Arish were being shelled by an unidentified vessel off the coast. However, "even the officers who knew of the identification of Liberty early the same morning did not connect Liberty with the unidentified ships said to be shelling El Arish."

4. (CIA has no evidence of these erroneous reports, but the information is plausible in light of the very speedy Israeli advance & the heat of battle in the El Arish area. The UAR Navy is not known to have shelled Israeli shore positions on 8 June. The above admission that Israelis had identified the Liberty -- presumably following the overflight by jets at 9:50 AM (2:50 PM EDT) — is the first indication that the Israelis knew the Liberty was in the area prior to the attack.)

Second Mistake

5. The three Israeli torpedo boats patroling near the Liberty reported that the unidentified vessel was steaming at 28-30 knots. A check of Liberty's maximum speed in Jane's led IDF headquarters to believe that the unidentified (radar) target was a high speed combatant & not the Liberty. Considering the erroneous information on the shelling of Israeli coastal positions, the IDF asked the torpedo boats to verify the unidentified vessel's speed & then ordered an air attack.6. (It is most bizarre that a qualified naval commander would twice compute Liberty's speed to be 30 knots or that the IDF would authorize an attack solely on the basis of an unidentified high speed contact. There is not a ship of Liberty's general appearance capable of such a speed and few have deck guns capable of shelling coastal installations. If the authorization to attack was made solely on radar tracking, the attacking aircraft would normally make a preliminary identification pass over the ship.)

Third Mistake

7. The Israeli torpedo boats then joined the fray. They claimed they mistook the Liberty for the Egyptain transport El Queseir and attacked with torpedoes after the jets had broken off. This attack is laid to the overeagerness of the torpedo boat skippers as the jet pilots were already having their doubts as to the ship's identity. The Israelis further state that the Liberty refused to answer a challenge sent by flashing light prior to the attack by the torpedo
boats and the ship was firing toward the Israeli torpedo boats.

8. (CIA concurs that the torpedo attack was made by overeager Israeli commanders. There have been no US Navy reports of the visual challenge -- probably issued in the heat of battle -- but if such a challenge were received it would have been answered.)

9. A partial explanation for some of this unprofessional military performance is found in a report from Tel Aviv that at least one of the officers aboard the torpedo boats was a reservist recalled to service during the mobilization. In light of the demonstrated Israeli military capabilities, however, it is difficult to attribute all of the contributing errors to inept personnel.

3. Egypt's navy was Soviet-built, with designs that did not resemble the Liberty at all (see photo for comparison). 4. Clark Clifford, a key member of the Johnson administration & future SecDef, said at an NSC meeting the next day it was "inconceivable" that it could just be a mistake. (3/)
