This one! Soundtrack by Just van Rossum. The animation had to fit on a single floppy, so it is a bit crunchy by todays standards. Snappy lunch at the Kosmik Café!

Go on, make a sign. Tell them where you're at. Don’t use the bollocks system fonts from the machine that is spying on you. Your words are none of their business. As real as it gets, this Kosmik. letterror.com/kosmik/

Fuck AI. In other news, the glyphset for LTR Kosmik has been extended to almost 3000 glyphs total. Apparently a great typeface for campsites, petting zoos, farmer’s markets, oatsy diary and all the delicious organic foods. LTR Kosmik is also an excellent alternative for bloody Papyrus in any design.

Black text on a white background, left lining. The text is animated by slowly cycling through the alternative shapes. It is not too intrusive. The text reads: "LTR Kosmik: A charming, textured, hand-lettered sans, drawn in three highly animatable versions. A nice lively choice for dialog and onomatopoeias: a bit quirky, very legible and instantly recognisable!! LTR Kosmik has a Regular and a Bold. Typoman sends his regards. License at LettError.com."

The article was written by thinking of words and sentences and then reading, thinking, and editing. Moving words around, removing words. Adding some images that were photos of real things in the world, or real drawings made by using a pencil. In order to create a concise article for you to read.

Javal made interesting observations. I have a rare German translation I need to scan. One thing I was happy to learn drawing AG was that in the real world all type gets to be small. "Optical" is not a thing that happens at a certain size, it happens relative to us.

110

LettError Type @letterror.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

No doubt, yes But once you start, it would question all proportions and spacing and it will become a new thing. A lot of contemporary sans start with the large and make only nominal adjustments to the small. This design explored the opposite perspective.

110

LettError Type @letterror.bsky.social · 29/08/2026

An optical size for big? Pixels without hinting? Ligatures that are not really ligatures? Nothing is ever what it seems in type (but everything does its job and you didn’t even notice!) Action Grotesque: platform independent, private equity free. At Commercial Type commercialtype.com/catalog/acti...

This shows the optical size variants for the Action Grotesque typeface. Particularly the registered symbol (®). In the default it is proportioned to work at 8 pt. But that makes it a bit chonky if you use the typeface at bigger sizes. So these variants are a bit smaller.

This shows Action Grotesque in different rasterisations. Not all these screens use Truetype hinting. The only way to get consistent results everywhere is to adapt the geometry of the typeface design itself. And that is what Action Grotesque has. Readable on every surface.

Rather than include dozens of ligatures, Action Grotesque has alternates for the lowercase f and t. These connect in some contexts, reducing the visual complexity a bit. The connectors are still separate characters so they respect tracking.

E + H, the bony lads, practice some dentistry. #ensorHolbein The drawing will continue until morale improves. #dentistry #cartoon

Two skulls, drawn in black shading, on a white background. The lines are rough. The left skull appears to look at the teeth of the right skull. It points with a bony finger and says “CAVITY”. Both skulls appear to be grinning. Which they always do, one supposes. The text balloon is lettered in a rough Fraktur as if the artist wants to make some sort of point. In the bottom right corner, a small ornamented box with “E+H”
