(2) if I am not wrong, mdl1 has better AIC/BIC/logLik than mdl4, but a similar comparison does not differ here (see table1 where AIC difference is 1.99): cran.r-project.org/web/packages... so, probably the relevance (or not) of 1|g depends on the dataset(?)

(1) When we started those series of studies, that was our initial thought too (that some models would have resulted as redundant). Simulations showed that 1|g is not redundant as models without 1|g had low power (table 2 of the paper).

In a previous article, @letstido.bsky.social and I introduced the Complex Random Intercepts approach for Linear Mixed Models. The goal was to simplify random-effects structures without removing key dependencies in the data. doi.org/10.1177/2515... #BayesianStatistics #LinearMixedModels

Last Saturday children had so much fun at BeCurious @universityofleeds.bsky.social playing our jumping game and programming Ohbot (www.ohbot.co.uk). Thanks to the amazing team (one to be revealed once our first HH #HRI study is completed!), #Bial Foundation @natecaruana.bsky.social, Carlo Campagnoli

🚀 #OpenScience paper How do top-down beliefs about artificial agents shape how we interpret their gaze? Eye contact+repeated gaze shifts cued communicative #intent, but when #gaze was ambiguous, people saw intentionality only if they believed the agent was 🙋 human (vs 🤖 #AI). 👉 rdcu.be/eLuQI

We found that attributing intention is not automatic — it may be shaped by both perceptual cues and individual cognitive style. This has big implications for how we understand social perception, Robotics, and AI.

Happy to share our latest study on (Un)intentionality bias in action observation! We found that people perceive ambiguous actions as intentional—especially when posture aligns with the goal. This bias shifts with schizotypal cognitive traits. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

This may mean that recognizing and understanding a humanoid robot is not just about seeing a human-like shape, it is also about integrating the details that tell us it is not alive. #Robotics #Neuroscience #HRI @iconlab.bsky.social @universityofleeds.bsky.social
