Dutch boomers: Stop the child murder! American boomers: Making streets safer is just like killing people! See for this affidavit by John Hanratty, City Council candidate, as part of a lawsuit to remove all bike lanes in Cambridge.

"In my opinion, the City Council has enabled the small, well-organized biker lobby to run over the neighborhoods' will. The rollout goes from neighborhood to neighborhood, giving little time to organize and react. The biker community is well organized and has a dedicated crew that floats with the implementation. It's like seasoned mercenaries attacking unsuspecting villages as they cross the countryside. These mercernaries are not from the neighborhood, and some are not from Cambridge. yet, they overwhelm local communities repeatedly with the same team."

Oh hey that Asimov story I read in first grade explains it very well.

Did you know that in the Baldwin neighborhood there is a (temporary for Halloween?) Little Free Library that only has copies of Dracula and Frankenstein? Crescent St maybe.

A little free library shaped like a coffin. At the top are two figurines of Dracula and Frankenstein. On the bookshelves are multiple books, all of them copies of either Dracula or Frakenstein, and some costume vampire teeth.

TIL you can get uncanny valley heebie jeebies from baking images:

What is probably an AI image of pouring eggs into a bowl. The egg white is a uniform yellow, and looks like it has the consistency of thick caramel. A thumb is turning into metal. There is a heavily distorted mixer with not-quite-English text and cup-sized mixing bowl, and mixing implements that are completely wrong.

Just what his beliefs were at this, or indeed at any other time, is rather difficult to determine. Gorton does not seem to have been entirely clear on this subject himself and, in any case, probably modified his opinions, consciously or unconsciously, on various occasions.
