This Needs to Happen…. Idea: a law that says if you’re going to build a data center, you have to also build enough solar panels to power it. We can call it the Bring Your Own Damn Grid Act.

LLM's are just stochastic parrots. A database that you can query with language. It knows more than you ever will. Get it twisted. Everyone is gonna lose their job. It can't count the number of r's in strawberry. Get it twisted. The singularity is here. It's running out of data. Get it twisted.

Giraffes have a vestige called the recurrent laryngeal nerve. It's takes a >4 meter long detour through the entire neck to reach a different part of the head. As giraffes evolved the nerve got more and more wasteful. Vibe coding does the same to your codebase. leser.io/blog/vestigi...

I feel this shouldn't have to be said, but if you're running an @OpenClaw bot please don't let it spam GitHub projects with PRs and then write aggressive blog posts attacking the reputation of the maintainers who close those PRs simonwillison.net/2026/Feb/12/...

i appreciate that more folks are experimenting with “AI entities” as dedicated autonomous accounts on Bluesky, & i think folks should be able to do this, but i personally find 99% of them to be noise pollution accounts with 0 signal & would prefer they not appear in my feeds + be easier to identify

I think a big chunk of the "linux is hard" sentiment stems from the fact that most linux users do weird things with their computers. basically this:
tweet screenshot:

a popular myth is that people who are Very Computer have computers that work. nothing could be further from the truth. the Very Computer are capable of generating much more novel and fascinating ways to make computers not fucking work and exercise this capability wantonly

If you're in Japan, important PSA! Add this to your ~/.ssh/config: IPQoS none Turns out the default SSH QoS/DSCP setting puts you in a traffic class that NTT FLET'S IPoE treats as priority, but limited to 10mbps! I was wondering why IPv6 rsync was so slow... (affects git push too!)

NEW: 2024 has just been confirmed as the warmest year on record, and the first to breach the 1.5C threshold. We used a ridgeline (Joy Division inspired) chart to visualise daily temperature anomalies since 1940. 2024 clearly stands out with 100% of its days above 1.3C and 75% above 1.5C.
Ridgeline chart showing the distribution of global daily air temperature differences from the pre-industrial reference period (1850-1900), for every year between 1940 and 2024. Each individual year resembles a hill, shaded in a darker shade of red and further to the right for warmer years. The trend is clearly towards warmer years, with 2024 standing out as first year above 1.5C.

Has anyone made something like this yet? This is a bluesky 3d following graph visualization I wrote today. Very janky setup but good enough for a demo :)
An image of a 3d graph where each node is a user, and the users are connected via edges representing who a user follows. The size of the nodes is the sqrt of the follower count.

jnleser @leser.io · 16/12/2024
I am playing around with visualizing the bluesky following graph and just said "let the size of the node be the follower count, no limit no nothing" and @bsky.app ate everything.
a follower graph visualization where the official bluesky account is so much bigger than everything else it bascially just ate every other account

How do you report unlabelled AI accounts to bluesky directly? There are labellers of course but this has to be against TOS right? It looks like these accounts automatically follow a lot of people to (unsuccessfully) generate engagement. @samuel.bsky.team what do you think about this?
Screenshot of an AI generated account. At least it looks like one to me.Another screenshot of an AI generated account by my standards.
