Virginia Creeper or Boston Ivy. Not 100% sure.

Leo @leoos.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

I have been listening to this album on an ongoing basis since 1991. I still think it's too notch stuff today. Thrash death metal just how I like it #nowplaying

Leo @leoos.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

This slipped in through the death metal firewall back in the early 90's and has become one of a handful of thrash albums I still listen to, along with some Atrophy, Overkill and even a bit of Xentrix occasionally #nowplaying

Bethlehem - Dark Metal The guy at work who gave me this on loan also gave me a Blind Guardian album at the same time. I'd already heard the third Bethlehem album before this. That was a magic carpet ride. Anyway this is more doom based and more structured. Dictius Te Necare remains my favourite

G.G.F.H. - Eclipse Wonderfully weird and basic industrial from the early 90s. There was a rumour they would play my hometown but that and Ghost making it never happened So many metallers into these lads because they were on a Peaceville sub label along with the likes of Kong and Ship of Fools

The first 2 Atrocity albums were great. I listened to this one way more as I had it on cassette and the debut on LP. Early 90s European death metal had so many great and possibly mostly for forgotten releases.. #nowplaying #deathmetal

The soundtrack to lunch. Rush - A Farewell to Kings #nowplaying

Check out: Electroretard • Melvins #Symfonium I listened to this album so much in 2002/03. Now I can't remember if I had it on CD, a burned CD-R, tape or maybe even mp3. I think I had the original CD. No idea where I got it. All Melvin's albums are quirky in their own way. I like this one a lot.

Let's play some rips of Kerrang cover mount CD's from the early 00s then for the day. #nowplaying

I saw them tour this album in 2003 at a gig in The Old Angel in Nottingham. Mastodon were support. I brought a camera. An epic night out youtu.be/wz9dmDqBybA?... Surrounded by Thieves • High on Fire #Symfonium

Check out: Live in Brooklyn NY • Winter #Symfonium I've been listening to Winter since the early 90s. The demo recording was something special. I got to see them in 2011 at Roadburn. It was so deadly. As is this recording. I don't feel the newer band Goden as much

I got to see Stampin' Ground last night approximately 26 years after skipping them in Cork and losing my mind when a mate played me their CD he got at the gig the next time I met him. They were great. I don't listen to much of this type of stuff anymore but it was a great gig.

Check out: Desire for Agony • Zeni Geva #Symfonium This came up in shuffle today. Its been too long since I listened to this 🎧 #nowplaying

It has not been a musical exploration heatwave in my corner of the world

000

Leo @leoos.bsky.social · 05/07/2026

Check out: The Waste Lands • Venom #Symfonium Have I ever mentioned how much I love this random Venom album from early 90s. Downloaded from a blog a million years ago. Objectively rubbish, mediocre at best, I keep coming back to it again and again.

Leo @leoos.bsky.social · 03/07/2026

Check out: Death... Is Just the Beginning, Volume 2 • Various Artists #Symfonium I put a bunch of compilations onto a USB key to play in my wife's car. Stereo foibles means it's better if I don't pair my phone. This album played first. A trip down memory lane. So many tracks and bands I forgot

100

Leo @leoos.bsky.social · 01/07/2026

Check out: No Fi, Lo Fi, Hi Fi • Estel #Symfonium I love this band. They played so many gigs in Cork in support of the Ladyfest organisers here and at the event itself in 2008/2009 time frame. There are a bunch of bands and projects post Estel by various membersI should listen to.

Leo @leoos.bsky.social · 01/07/2026

Check out: The Eye of Every Storm • Neurosis #Symfonium I've turned off the sound on the Senegal Belgium World Cup game to listen to this as the soundtrack instead. I'm into this album now in a way I so wasn't when it came out. This was far too laid back for me then.

Check out: The White Birch • Codeine #Symfonium mp3 download blogs from the early 00s were great for finding music that never came to your local store or listening orbit back in the day. Codeine were a band discovered guY way. Their music is almost languid in its delivery and sound. Fabulous stuff

010

Leo @leoos.bsky.social · 22/06/2026

Check out: Unholy Deification • Incantation #Symfonium Sometimes you just hear the right song at the right time while shuffling tracks. I barely gave this a sideways glance when it came out. It's a solid death doom performance by the veterans.

010

Leo @leoos.bsky.social · 17/06/2026

Check out: Live Corruption • Napalm Death #Symfonium I never watched the full video back in the day. This is a great live album from the very beginning of the Harris/Pintado/Greenway era of Napalm Death. Sounds considerably better than the Bootlegged in Japan album from the end of the 90s

000

Leo @leoos.bsky.social · 17/06/2026

Check out: Spheres • Pestilence #Symfonium I never went too far down the Tech death rabbit hole. My most listened to albums by Pestilence Atheist and Cynic would not be the ones that most would pick as their best. This is a great album for me though.. www.decibelmagazine.com/2011/09/14/j...

010

Leo @leoos.bsky.social · 14/06/2026

Check out: Better Off Dead • Sodom #Symfonium I bought this on record soon after it came out. Far from the best album, Agent Orange and Persecution Mania that preceded it were far superior. This wasn't on a TDK C90 blank cassette at the time though. I still listen to it and enjoy it.

000

Leo @leoos.bsky.social · 12/06/2026

Check out: Timewave Zero • Blood Incantation #Symfonium In a parallel universe I would have been listening to these lads for the last ten years. I haven't been inclined to do so for their death metal releases. This is deadly. I should probably listen to Brian Eno. Or more ambient in general.

Leo @leoos.bsky.social · 10/06/2026

Check out: Fixed • Nine Inch Nails #Symfonium A friend went to see Guns n Roses in 91 I and mentioned a weird support band called Nine Inch Nails. I later got Broken on record and loved it. Fixed followed a year or so later on CD. I listened to the CD way more than the record since then.

Leo @leoos.bsky.social · 09/06/2026

Check out: Falha comum • Rakta #Symfonium I'm quickly coming round to the Rakta contribution to the above album and exploring them as well. Also fantastic. I must find time to watch the KEXP session they did years ago.

A photo on my phone at night walking home on the way back from an Abigail Williams gig last Wednesday. The long exposure makes it a bit surreal. The gig was great. I remember seeing Predator in the same place when it was a cinema in the 80s.

Check out: Sessões Selo Sesc #6: Rakta + Deafkids - Ao Vivo • Deafkids & Rakta #Symfonium I listened to Deafkids new album this week. Mad stuff. My library audio app has this album. Also brilliant. For no reason whatsoever I am thinking of the Ozric Tentacles Live Underslunky album.

The Art of Self Defense • High on Fire #Symfonium I remember buying this from Man's Ruin because I was getting an Acid King CD and decided to check out Matt Pikes post Sleep band. Awesome stuff. Saw them support Mastodon in 2003 in Nottingham. A great night out. 10000 YEARS!!!

Check out: Devour • Pharmakon #Symfonium All Pharmakon albums are top for amazing.

Leo @leoos.bsky.social · 26/05/2026

Check out: Red Line • Trans Am #Symfonium I will forever regret skipping out on a Trans Am - Fucking Champs gig locally in 2001. I listened to Champs III and IV so much in the early part of the 00's

KHNTvsSTOCKHOLM (Special Low Fidelity version) • Khanate #Symfonium - I am so falling asleep to this and having nightmares later on.

Check out: Soul Sacrifice / Statik Majik • Cathedral #Symfonium Can you feel the groove? Ooohhh!

Leo @leoos.bsky.social · 10/05/2026

Check out: The Violet Flame • Joel Andrews #Symfonium Harp solo wellness music from the 70s as far as I can tell. Its on Spotify and so forth if you want to relax to it. My download from Opium Hum has record scratches that add to it for me. valleyentertainment.bandcamp.com/album/the-vi...

Check out: Vol. 1 • chipmunks on 16 speed #Symfonium An 80s Chipmunks covers album played back on a 16rpm record player yields amazing results. Genius.

An album I listened to today: Push Comes to Shove • Kong #Symfonium

Leo @leoos.bsky.social · 21/04/2026

Check out: Carnage Gathers • Grave Infestation #Symfonium While I'm at it as I watch the snooker on BBC, this album is old style death metal inspired thrashy noise to set your Hell Awaits, early Death /Autopsy clock to. I didn't expect much. I got floored.

010

Leo @leoos.bsky.social · 21/04/2026

The Eye of Every Storm • Neurosis - I don't think I'd heard this for 15 years or so. I wasn't in the head space for it then obviously. Enjoying it more now. It doesn't top A Sun That Never Sets for me. But in the same way Panopticon by Isis took over from Oceanic a while back this may do the same.

000

Leo @leoos.bsky.social · 19/04/2026

I started my Neurosis journey with a friend posting me Through Silver in Blood while I was away from home for a year. I returned to see Neurosis support Entombed in a European tour. I bought this and Enemy of the Sun on record from different people around 20ish years ago. Both incredible albums.

Sleep to Win is my favourite Iron Monkey song so far. Seeing Church of Misery at Roadburn flaming drunk after watching Saint Vitus end their set sober 90 minutes earlier was an achievement of some sort. Jagermeister has its moments. Great set. Never saw Iron Monkey unfortunately.
