Absolutely stoked to have received the Best Paper Prize 2025 from @ecpr-ead.bsky.social at #ecprgc26 🥳 You can read the published paper, co-authored with @bcastanho.bsky.social, in the EJPR: doi.org/10.1017/S147... The pun in the title had to go, unfortunately...

We find that radicalism emerges as a much more consistent predictor of protest mobilization than populism, with radicalism increasing mobilization. Populism partially amplifies this pattern, but only on the radical left do we find significant differences between populist and non-populist parties.

New article with @bcastanho.bsky.social out now in @ejprjournal.bsky.social !  ✨ We map protest mobilization calls by MPs across Europe to disentangle the role of radicalism and populism in explaining party involvement in protest politics. 🪧 doi.org/10.1017/S147...

My first publication is out in @wepsocial.bsky.social , with @lennartschuermann.bsky.social ✨ We analyze how protest increases before different types of elections. We show crucial differences in how civil society and parties prioritize elections in a multilevel system. doi.org/10.1080/0140...

Why are parties like AfD, Movimento 5 Stelle, or La France Insoumise so involved in street protests? Is it because of populism or their (radical) host ideology? Come and find out at #EPSA2025 on Friday at 15:00 (0A.05) where I will present joint work with @bcastanho.bsky.social!
