Religion is used as a tool to control the masses. It may have been useful in a time where education and literacy were scarce. It almost certainly helped prevent disease and generated social order. Today it is antiquated. Cultures that refuse to move on from it have worse social and health outcomes.

I like how all those "pencil sketches" were obviously AI generated. I don't think any of these plans were actually real or serious. I think they're being purveyed as a method manufacturing consent, i.e., a "door in the face" technique where something less ridiculous will come later and be accepted.

Beccera is a scumbag. He fought tooth and nail to keep records of police misconduct hidden, despite the new law requiring they be revealed.

Perhaps most surprising was his aggressive response to two journalists who obtained a list of police officers convicted of crimes. His office provided that list — then threatened the reporters with criminal prosecution, claiming it was mistakenly provided and illegal to even have. The threats fly in the face of First Amendment protections afforded journalists, experts said.

Having cheap insurance is expensive. This is why I pay out of pocket for better insurance that limits my overall exposure significantly. It is said that being poor is expensive, and this is yet another example of that. Sad state our society is in.

Neat. I made a playlist based on this. So far I only see a few new things on it, but we'll see how it turns out sounding. My music taste is all over the place.

I love Ben Gibbard, Jenny Lewis, Death Cab, and Rilo Kiley. I also spent a ton of time in college listening to Eric Clapton, Cream, The Postal Service, and others. In the Early 2010s I got into The Milk Carton Kids, The Avett Brothers, Heartless Bastards, Watchhouse (formerly Mandolin Orange). More recently, I've been into bands such as Fruit Bats. I do not like modern hip-hop, rap, or country. Any bluegrass should be limited to the styles of Cherryholmes, The Kathy Kallick Band, etc.

I blame the parents for not educating their kids about how to exist in the world. We can talk about idealistic aspirations for car-lite or car-free societies as much as we want, but if parents don't educate their kids and enforce helmets, then parents are responsible.
