"Kill all humans" by @leninology.bsky.social. www.patreon.com/richardseymo...
Tech fetishism, the ascription of human agentive powers to machinery, is always a political act. It obscures that the goals, the purposes, embodied in any technology are human purposes; more specifically, that they are the automated purposes of a minute subset of humanity, a class fraction, the twisted, ruthless, ketamined, indoctrinated, emotionally stunted moral nullities that rule Silicon Valley like child-kings, have made themselves the bearers of myriad impossible hopes, and have now bought their way into the Trump court. It says, that’s just how the technology works, it’s a capricious demigod which can either shower us with riches or have us all killed, we must appease it and ensnare it, we must fear it and cherish it, but what we mustn’t ever do is stop throwing money at it, or stop genuflecting to it, or begin to think: this is nothing but our own alienated collective power turned against us by cut-throat capitalists, and in making us the servants of their technology, they try to make us their slaves. Because that, my friends, is Luddism. And I trust you know what that unfortunate incident led to

pogromism is dangerously addictive for those it attracts: it offers short bursts of adventure and felt achievement, but it can't satisfy. It could no more be placated with more racist violence or state sadism than a phobia about spiders could be soothed by the killing of more spiders. To keep going, it must escalate.

On the pogroms in Belfast, by @leninology.bsky.social www.patreon.com/richardseymo...
Granted, one must defeat the enemy in the fortress of his strength, to misquote Hegel. And it is true that those moral entrepreneurs stimulating migrant panic often make bad faith arguments about wages, public services and housing. Those arguments have to be refuted. But their main claim today, the one that is turning people out onto the streets, is that migrants are an existential threat, sexually deviant, irrational, violent, hostile to ‘the West’: ‘enemy soldiers’ as Tommy Robinson put it. Their most emotionally compelling argument is that whites are victims, threatened with extinction, and their only hope is to purify and control their communities. And the reasons why this is compelling have little to do with any putative evidence mustered in its favour, and everything to do with the illusory sense that it confers of knowing what’s going on, naming the enemy and being able to do something about it. It is the excitement of confronting annihilation as its agent rather than as its imagined victim. Most of those who are attracted to this are not going to be tricked by some clever orthogonal gambit into supporting a more leftist, amelioratory politics, any more than they will assent to be debated out of a position that offers such addictive consolation.
