One thing I find myself wondering: why do so many high-end hotels in Germany use the colour combination of grey and purple? Purple certainly isn’t a colour with a sexy reputation. Grey isn’t exactly lively either.

My favourite film, *Die Alleinseglerin* (1987, based on the novel of the same name by Christine Wolters, directed by Hermann Zschoche), tells the story of Christine, a literary scholar. She inherits the ‘Drachen’, her father’s sailing boat.

Italy always reminds me of one thing: life is better when you take your time! Walk more slowly and observe, admire and enjoy your surroundings with all their rich details; eat more slowly and for much longer – at least five courses – and savour every bite.
