I hate permissions systems that bundle something you want to do into a "super dangerous" mega permission. If you want to use a MIDI keyboard on chrome you had to enable insecure websites. If you want an app to change the screen resolution on Android you have to enable WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS.

TODOs are best as tests that fail. Making a test is normally way more effort than the missing feature, but you can just make a test that says todo!(). I thought I heard of some github actions thing that lets you add a test for if your issue has been solved, but I can't find it.

There should be stdlog for logs. stderr is basically this, but it also gets printed to the screen. Maybe something that is hidden by default and could be redirected. It would be to stderr what stderr is to stdout.
