Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 27/09/2026Question for the interwebs: What are people using these days for making blogs these days? I basically want to write it in something like markdown in my preferred text editor. But are people still using static blog generators much anymore? 111
Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 28/08/2026So my hobby for the past few...err...well longer then I'd like to admit, has been making a card game. Codename: Sequence. And I got two copies of my first decks for play testing ready today. ^.^ 000
Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 30/07/2026The fuck...github changed the hamburger menu into a literal pancake menu. 000
Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 03/03/2026When I ready the title I misread it as 'sound and _furry_', and was like...oh cool, a furry generator. ^.^ Pity the actual truth is much less fun. 000
Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 23/10/2025Message from claude: "The build succeeded, so your packages in dist/ are ready to use! The warning is cosmetic and won't affect package functionality." Because yes...I should always ignore warnings, they're just cosmetic....sigh. :( 000
Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 20/10/2025I mean, the vast majority of people that receive gender affirming care (both hormonal as well as surgical procedures) are cis people. 010

Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 09/10/2025At which point, because the development tools I was using required Docker (sadly, not even Podman worked), I had to do a bunch of docker-in-docker shenanigans. 010
Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 09/10/2025For example, try to install nix on Fedora Silverblue (or Bluefin). The only way I was able to get it to work was either in a Distrobox container or a Docker image. 210
Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 09/10/2025But it does have a few major downsides, the biggest one of which for me is the painful UI and requirements of where certain files should be. 110
Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 09/10/2025I do like how nix makes it easier to compose multiple languages together. I, for example, use it as a build option for ClojureScript projects that require both Java and Node to work well. Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 09/10/2025Ya, so far its been that way for me too. But at the same time, I can't help but think: "If the biggest win uv has over poetry is speed, why not improve poetry?" (Note that I've never actually used poetry, only uv, so I may not know what I'm talking about here.) 100
Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 09/10/2025Oh jeez, I didn't even realize pyenv and pyvenv even existed...yikes. 010
Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 08/10/2025Ah, you could give something like sketch.dev a try too.sketch.devsketch.dev - Sketch Code AgentAn agent with a web UI that talks git. 110

Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 22/08/2025So, I want to try my hand at making ramen, but all of this AI crap is making it difficult to find instructions. Does anyone have good advice/recipes? 000
Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 14/08/2025Oof, always hard, even when its the best thing. Hope all is well. (Or at least as well as can be.) 110

Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 01/08/2025Also my friend @warpfork.bsky.social can go on about the problems in nix store values and how it determines if two things are equal. 010
Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 01/08/2025Probably a controversial thing to say from someone who likes FP, but: I think NixOS is also kind of bad too. Like its command line UI is bad. Everyone says flakes improve it, but then you have to add extra flags to enable it, and its been 'unstable' for how long now? 220
Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 30/07/2025loool, ya. Although to be fair to linux there are much easier ways to do this. I just can't because of corporate policies. :) 010
Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 30/07/2025What's really hilarious is the software I need to run (on the cloud pc) runs on linux, so I'm using WSL and Docker on that PC. Which means I'm: 1. Using my Linux PC to: 2. RDP into a windows VM running on that PC to: 3. RDP into a windows 365 Cloud PC to: 4. Run WSL to: 5. Run a Docker container. 110

Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 30/07/2025The problem with the browser (unless edge is different), is that it doesn't capture keybindings. So things like alt-tab, page up, ctr+t, etc. end up going to the host windowing manager and browser. 000

Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 14/04/2025Does anyone have any recommendation on what the most economical way to get GPUs for training/fine tuning LLMs are? I've been looking over nvidia comparison tables for a while now and I'm not coming up with a consistent answer. 000

Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 08/12/2024Strange. I probably should specify that I'm trying to use the Flatpak package of DrRacket. The brew package (for example) seems much faster. 000
Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 07/12/2024Is it just me, or has Racket started taking a LONG time to start up on linux? (Like I started launching DrRacket before writing it and it still is only half way launched.) 100
Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 26/11/2024Although in my case the reason I disliked it was less because I thought it was wrong (I'm not an expert in the field so I can't judge that), but more because I thought it wasn't very clear what they were saying, when _much_ simpler (but less 'tech-soundy') words existed. 010

Leif Andersen @leif.pl · 21/11/2024If you're going to (a) do this at the vcs level (as opposed to the fs level) and (b) want autocmmits, I would make a separate branch for each machine. You can then use something like `inotifywait` to watch a folder and commit whenever a file changes. (Do make sure to exclude the .git folder. ;) ) 220
