Big Oil Employees Wrote Paper Behind Kemi Badenoch's North Sea Fantasy
The Conservative leader and her media supporters used a new study as evidence to support her plan to increase drilling in the North Sea, without declaring who was really behind it

Burnham made Farage seem “angry, thin-skinned… absurd. What we witnessed today was a masterclass in political communication which makes Farage look like an amateur” Finally. The confidence that comes with emotional intelligence. It could make all the difference. iandunt.substack.com/p/burnham-sp...

Burnham speech: An astonishing moment of radicalism and commitment

Everything Trump and his cabinet have said about the deal is false. Venezuelan law governing oil does not allow for 100-yr deals, or anything longer than 25 years. And US law doesn't allow us to own shares in companies. Plus, the deal as structured won’t bring new capital to Venezuela’s oil sector.
Experts are ultimately skeptical the oil deal can hold together. “The deal is like the big beautiful wall that Mexico will pay for,” said former US diplomat John Feeley.

‘Skin in the game’
It was less than a month after the January US raid that toppled Maduro that Exxon’s CEO, Darren Woods, said the country was “uninvestable” because of the “legal and commercial constructs and frameworks in place today”.

Two people familiar with the process said Trump began looking for a way to make sure the US had “skin in the game” – financial ownership that would put investors at ease. The potential answer became the US stake in Betancourt’s firm, North American Blue Energy Partners.

Though the White House and defense department say it has 35% ownership, the Pentagon told lawmakers on the congressional armed services committee in a written briefing seen by the Guardian it has “warrants” in Nabep: rights to purchase shares, rather than the shares themselves.

The way Conservatives talk about welfare, you’d think people on benefits are living the life of Riley, rather than living under one of the most frugal benefit systems in Europe. The Tories simply don’t believe that you can have a strong economy without penalising the most disadvantaged. #r4today

I listened to Farage on an LBC, I was very surprised at his confirmation that he would not allow anything to get in his way. The house of Lords, Judiciary or the Civil Service. Do we have a wannabe dictator who appears to support democratic process until he gains absolute power?
