Do they think AI will kill us, or do they desperately need public support?
Last week, Anthropic engineers, their leaders, and Elon Musk's tweets now agree that there is a greater than 10% chance that AI Large Language Models (LLMs) have the potential to kill humans - yet tho...

We should be eradicating the Billionaire, not hyping up and creating the Trillionaire.
Enter the trillionaore era: Musk has become the first trillionaire while inciting violence and creating CSAMAs space x IPOs today: a single human is now worth a trillion dollars, and is richer than the poorest 46% of the worlds population. Musk now makes 1 million dollars a minute, and is wealthier than dozens of countries annual GDP. Grok, a CSAM generating AI, is now part of the worlds most valuable company. Meanwhile, Musk's hobbies this week include inciting violence in the North of Ireland.

Our statement on the UK gov't's demand that all content on all devices sold or used in the UK be scanned, on the presumption of nudity, using a dystopian combination of age verification & content scanning. This proposal will not safeguard children. It endangers us all. signal.org/blog/pdfs/20...

A Quote from EFF’s Staff Attorney, F. Mario Trujillo, via TechCrunch:

“Knocking on a door, or even just walking in front of it, shouldn’t require abandoning your privacy. With this feature going live, it’s more important than ever that state privacy regulators step in to investigate, protect people’s privacy, and test the strength of their biometric privacy laws.”

Who the Flock are they?
Who the Flock are they?

Flock wants to eliminate crime
Flock is a network of over 80k AI cameras [primarily] scanning vehicle registrations. They pride themselves on their police partnerships and believe that people will commit less crimes when they know they're being watched.

Ice spy no warrant
Senator Ron Wyden has released evidence that flock networks have been accessible to ICE and the US Navy. These agencies and local police have searched Flock's cameras without warrants.

Drones as first responders
Flock are leading the way with AI drones as first responders to police calls, claiming to recognise registration plates from almost 70 metres.

🧊❓
Ring denies giving videos or feeds to ICE:

Ended police partnerships in 2024
Ring ended police partnerships in 2024 which allowed departments to request videos from devices. Ring previously granted 57-68% of requests.

Your neighbour's choice
While these direct partnerships have ended, it is now in the hands of individual users to choose to provide ring footage as evidence in your neighbourhood.

Now, they've partnered with Flock...

Stranger Danger?
Ringing in the AI age:

A quote from Ring founder Jamie Siminoff:
“Equally important is that if someone you don’t recognize is lingering, you’ll know immediately [they’re] unfamiliar,”

Leaning heavily into AI, aren't they all.
Ringing in the AI age:

Familiar faces
Allow ring to register up to 50 familiar faces and names which ring will recognise from up to 4 metres away. This function does not work with end-to-end encryption.

Search Party
The focus of the Super Bowl advert, upload an image of your beloved pet and tap into your neighbourhood's network of ring feeds to locate your pet. Sharing footage to search party is currently an opt-in feature.

Ring Elite
A new network of security cameras for businesses, car parks and public spaces. Offering 360 cameras and alerts for suspicious activity and people.

Privacy is not Ring's strongest suit 😬
Ring has a terrible record with data privacy:

Forced to pay a $5.8m fine in 2023
After the FTC found Ring Contractors had 'broad and unrestricted' access to customers' videos for years.

Neighbours app Security flaws
In 2021, Ring's Neighbours app was found to be exposing users' home addresses and precise locations.

Passwords on the dark web & lack of 2fa
Ring passwords have been floating around the dark web for years, and Ring only enforced 2FA in 2020.

Slow to provide end-to-end encryption
Ring only introduced end-to-end encryption in 2021, a security feature that doesn't work with their new AI tools.
