Unfortunately, and somehow despite the amount of Half Life 2 I've played, I very much think of crowbars as being the weapon the Joker used to kill Jason Todd

Having heard that True Detective was a key inspiration for the series made me bump it up my "watch" queue as well!

Their take on John Stewart is really interesting too! My favorite version of that character that ever was in the marines.

It's a great show! As someone who thinks that "Emerald Twilight" was peak comics Hal Jordan, I'm really loving the version of him in Lanterns. I find comics Jordan really bland a lot of the time so it was a pleasant surprise to see how he's characterized here.

Fun fact: the color red didn't exist until 1977, when Dario Argento invented it for Suspiria.

Hey team just a reminder that last year we all promised to get our flu shots in Mickey’s honor. It’s about that time. CVS has “coupons” for the uninsured. Go get a flu shot! #bb28

The easiest way to understand Scott Summers is to realize that he spent his formative years in an orphanage in which half the people he interacted with were just disguised Mr. Sinister. The easiest way to understand Mr. Sinister is to realize he took over a whole orphanage just to mess with Scott.

The last company, AT&T that was forced to split due to monopolies was in 1982. 1982. There's like 5ish companies that owe all of the food market and alot of the entertainment market. Not to mention Amazon is literally in almost every field now it seems, medicine, groceries, online shopping etc.

being in animation, its not from AI. the streaming bubble bursting cuz everyone hopped on the grain cuz it undermined unions, less regulations and more mergers are what lead to the loss. AI is just what people think but it started way before that

If you're going outside for other reasons less, it takes a lot more willpower to take a special trip to socialize vs stopping in at a place cause you were out anyways.

kiva @leftist.gay · 28/09/2026

💯. Even outside of online socialization, I think that the internet has made the amount of time you can spend without going out and talking to people much longer due to that same trap, with things like work from home and online shopping/grocery delivery and streaming services.

Been using this for a couple months now and it is genuinely quite good! Would recommend to anyone who spends money on digital comics (though supporting a local shop with some of your comic spend is always the first choice!)

Casting Tom Sandoval is camp. Casting Craig Conover is messy but I see the vision. Casting West Wilson though is not it. He brings nothing to the table but ick. Boring ick. Some demons need to be left in the Bravo dungeon.

at this point you have to conclude that there is an even deeper pathology at play here than hating minorities and having no principles and it is that they actively enjoy humiliation. It makes them feel alive.

My eternal frustration with Wonder Woman is that it could be much more credible with only a few small changes. For example, if you give the plane a second set of wings, it's a lot more believable, due to bi invisibility.

I think as long as you're focusing on actual lives and not hypothetical future lives that's a good thing

000

I expect people I'm aligned with to agree that a charity that can save lives is better to give money to than the one that gives sports tickets to veterans. EA to me is just the natural extension of that, like "how many lives can I save for a dollar"

Like, I really do think the focus on x-risks is quite likely counter productive but I don't see why they're throwing away the concept of effective altruism in general.

While I'm overall glad about that Eliezer/rationalist takedown thread that popped off the other day, I dislike that it really threw out all of the ideas of the group along with the way those ideas were implemented.
