leedaly1895.bsky.social @leedaly1895.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Ofc like Foley and Rollins, he comes across as a real asshole at times and perhaps cribbing from the latter especially, has a lot of (Henry not Frank) Miller-esque detours into just listing stuff to describe the plebs around him. 000
leedaly1895.bsky.social @leedaly1895.bsky.social · 11/10/2026And, in a way, nothing wrong with that, even as some of his personal imperfections and accumulation of other celebrity sycophants belie even that characterisation. Perhaps actually watching all the shows will clear it all up further, but I might spare myself from same. 110
leedaly1895.bsky.social @leedaly1895.bsky.social · 11/10/2026What is interesting is the modern introduction written by Irvine Welsh, with lots of naughty swear words placing Bourdain approximate to Rosa Luxembourg. The documentary too features similar from various collaborators. Most of the material evidence is Bourdain being a celebrity with a conscience. 110
leedaly1895.bsky.social @leedaly1895.bsky.social · 11/10/2026I have just finished the audiobook of Kitchen Confidential and watched the Bourdain doc, having never consumed any of his different outputs before. The book is good, the sort of Get in The Van/Have a Nice Day behind the curtain effort only an articulate member of a subculture can churn out. 120
