I know right! The good news is: this is coming with iOS26.

In iOS26, the Alarm Options interface has a Snooze Duration setting that allows you to set snooze time from 1 minute to 15 minutes.

@gruber.foo Also, when you turn on Screen Unknown Senders, you immediately see an option to set Notification preferences. Verification Codes notifications are on by default, and there’s an option to turn on Other.

iOS 26 Messages Settings offers an option to Allow Notifications from Unknown Senders section.

This Settings subpage screenshot shows that Verification Code Notifications are in by default.

There is an Other kinds of senders notifications that are off by default.

@gruber.foo Re text message filtering in iOS 26: I don’t know about you, but Screen Unknown Senders is not on by default on my iPhone.

💯 We are saddled with Crave in Canada which offers notoriously awful quality at an unspecified bit rate and is the only legal way to stream HBO. I read a couple of years ago that AppleTV+ offers the highest bitrate and every release is 4K. Here’s a recent chart with some detail.

A chart of streaming services and their average 4K bandwidth in Megabits per second (Mbps).

Apple TV+ leads with the highest average bitrate at 29 Mbps, followed by BBC iPlayer at 25–30 Mbps.

Netflix and Disney+ both average around 17 Mbps.

Max (formerly HBO Max) ranges between 16 and 22 Mbps, and Amazon Prime Video averages approximately 15 Mbps.

Several services—Hulu, MUBI, Crave (Canada), ITVX (UK), and All 4 (UK)—do not publicly disclose average bitrate figures.

A little north east of you earlier this evening, headed down the big hill to the Humber River valley west of Jane, south of Dundas. Figured when the sun is this blinding it’s worth taking a shot from behind the windshield. #CanadaSky #CanPix #Toronto #Sunset

Capturing a Toronto sunset while on the drive home, stopped at the top of a very steep hill lined with naked winter trees and a touch of snow with the dramatically glowing yellow/orange sun just beginning to set over the treeline of the Humber valley.

Please add alt tags on your images, especially if they are screenshots of posts or include all the context of your post. When you upload an image there’s a + ALT button top left for each image so it’s just a quick tap, description, and save. #Accessibilty #AltTags #PhotoDesciptions

The image overlay on Bluesky when uploading a new image includes a + ALT button so you can quickly add an alt tag.

When you press the + ALT button, a text field opens to type your alt text. It shows a 2000 character limit and has a big blue Save button.

I tried to quickly make an image of me wearing a hat that says “No slogan” but AI continues to ruin everything.

I recently spotted Angela Bassett as Stewardess in Kindergarten Cop (1990).

A still from Kindergarten Cop with Angela Bassett acting as an airline steward leaning over to assist a seated Arnold Schwarzenegger and his companion played by Pamela Reed.

We’re ringing in the new year with an evening of music at home. 🔊 We got things started with Uncle Waffles and Skepta, and are currently enjoying Skratch Bastid’s eclectic end of year mix that finishes with our one year old’s favourite track of the year before I play my NYE mix. Happy new year! 🎉

The ambiance in our family room with Apple TV playing Skratch Bastid in the background and my laptop and DJ gear at the ready for me to play my NYE mix and some nice mood lighting.

Bluesky profile setup complete.

My Muted words list in Bluesky settings shows that I’ve muted “Trump” and “Elon”.
