I have to remember that while the steroid packs do break the migraine, they also make me feel like absolute shit & fuck with my appetite for a couple days. But! I both got some editing done AND haven’t pushed myself too hard. Am now laying down. Have also eaten properly for the first time in a bit.

I didn't know I was allergic to dogs until we got Ivysaur, but I am, and quite dramatically so. I will not NOT pet her, but my poor arm tattoos stand up and itch after I do it, even when I wash them off. Alas. But she's so cute.

Was reading a depressing AI asshole thread just now and someone said that AI bros don’t want to be people. But you know, I don’t think they want to be robots either. People I know who want that want to avoid the needs of the flesh, not the joys of it. I don’t know /what/ these assholes want to be.

I’m tentatively optimistic I’ll feel marginally better tomorrow and maybe be able to do more than move from bed to couch to bed. If I don’t, I won’t push. But maybe.

Right now, I mostly feel physically like shit b/c of the steroids for the migraine, but that means they’re doing their job so I’ll tough it out as if I do have a cold or something. Monday I’ll get the pain treatment rescheduled. Taking a couple days off work for recovery. The body needs some rest.

Wasn’t able to do the treatment for my nerve pain I was supposed to today because of a meds conflict I’d been told wasn’t a problem. Still have a migraine + the side effects of migraine treatment. Had a meltdown. Laid down for a while. Made & consumed a casserole. Life is marginally better.

In other news, @erikseguinte.com is the best one and it’s pretty cool he wants to be married to me.

Still fine. Thing is not dangerous to self or others, just sad. And, you know, giving me nightmares. But really, what else is new. This will pass. Already on the way toward it. There are so many beautiful and good things in the world that more than make up for this.

Today is Day 1 of steroids to kill migraine. Tomorrow I get stabbed in the spine in an attempt to fix the nerve pain in my hands. I am choosing to hope that within a couple days, the physical stuff will be looking up. Then hopefully I can write.

What I /want/ is to be able to write. Things are going to improve. Brain and life and health things all will improve. But goddamn I feel stretched thin right now, and would like to not be.

I'd intended to go hiking today, but the migraine had other ideas so I took it mostly down. I did get the DG3 stuff from the notebook put into the script proper and edited into something I like, made 1 more character announcement for DG2, & worked out what I want to do for the C44 website though!

I am /loving/ it. I also had to confirm your name in the credits like four times because I would never have guessed from the voice. Excellent, excellent work.

Happy Death Day 2U is not a brilliant movie. But it gets serious points from me for not bothering with a bunch of near-misses with people who know what's up, and basically skipping the "I don't believe you" thing entirely. I really liked the first one too, honestly. Fun, silly, & time loops!

Ok, so I told myself I was required to listen to 1 episode period b/c sometimes I have to muscle through to get into something. By the end of ep 1 i was hooked. I’m now on ep 5 and my only complaint is i’m going to run out of episodes soon.

Oh, another thing that’s been cool about talking to people outside the US more is seeing how much of the language I hear in mainstream media is actually used in speech, & who by. Some things that to my ear sound theatrical are conversational staples.

I wonder if that one’s a regionalism, b/c it’s in my lexicon, though I rarely use it. I /think/ I picked it up from my Massachusetts-born grandparents? But seriously! And even inside the same country! It’s so cool.

I mean, right off the bat there’s the problem of figuring out where the differences even /are./ There are so many features of my language that I wasn’t even aware are specific to American, or even California American language. My love for human variation is endless.

Something I pride myself on in my writing is authentic sounding dialog. Trying to write people that are outside my immediate cultural & linguistic knowledge has been a fascinating challenge, and Ive barely branched out.

Working in audio fiction has given me such an appreciation for how many different types of English there are worldwide, & how many small details need to be gotten right to sound authentic, often details that are invisible in one’s primary dialect. Also this whole thread is interesting.
