Seriously. That ending was always so awful, and now they seem to be really emphasizing the awful... but not in a good or interesting way. The movie will still make its millions, and I'll still be angry. Long live AO3 and its authors and its beta readers!

In SW:Rebels, the character Ezra is given the same option (go back in time and be with his family) by... Emperor Palpatine. He turns it down. It's such a contrast to how we're supposed to feel about Steve's EG ending.

A few years ago, I wrote a series of four short stories called "Fallout" which explored what would happen if Steve truly stayed in the past. Canon-compliant up through TFATWS, it does not give a happy ending to Steve, which still breaks my heart to this day. archiveofourown.org/series/2648614

If you don't mind sitting in the back (watching screens instead of stage), hopping in the back of the line to get wristbands the night before and showing up early the day of isn't too bad. Last year, I went to Hall H for George Lucas, and I'm very glad I did.
