I'm thinking I might cave and actually watch Lament of Autumn as it airs. I've already decided I will break my "no watching kdramas while they're airing" rule for Love in Disguise, so what's one more? Y'all are terrible influences 🤣

Two episodes in and #TakeChargeOfMyHeart is absolutely charming nonsense!! So happy about this 🥰 The scene with ALL the romantic tropes (rescue, hug, the lights turning on, those lines...) and all of it about recharging? Brilliant and hilarious.

I'm going to recover from getting shoved into the deeply messy drama of my extended family this weekend by watching a kdrama full of deeply messy family drama. Coping skills! #Here'sMyPlan

Is everyone in this drama? I feel like this is the fifth or sixth casting announcement from NF. But I don't know anything about the manwha, so maybe there are dozens of characters big enough for all these recognizable people?

I'm finally getting around to watching #TheForbiddenMarriage and #KimYoungDae truly is marvelous. He was the lead in one of my early favourite kdramas and yet every time I see him in a new (to me) show I'm again amazed by his acting talent. Comedic timing, small emotional beats, smoulder... so good!

What is the movie that came out before you were born that you've watched the most? I had this memorized as a kid, to the point that I can still recite the dialogue when I watch it now, in my 40s.

I realized today that kids who go to schools with only whiteboards and smartboards don't get to experience the small and exquisite joy of being sent outside to knock the chalk dust out of the chalkboard erasers.

If this is the leading role for #ChenHeyi that we were promised earlier this year, I'm going to be furious. I don't care if the Al used his actual acting to generate the show, there's still no way I'm going to watch this.

This looks obnoxiously cute. Forced proximity, contractual handholding, potentially fatal health issue, perpetually single romance writer, uptight vs chaotic... a veritable trope grab-bag featuring Chae SooBin (🩵) and Kim Young Kwang (💚)? Yes please! #TakeChargeOfMyHeart

Ooo... an exciting map of family intrigue and (presumably) backstabbing. This could be fun and it features a rogues gallery of actors I've seen and enjoyed in (horizontal) minidramas. Onto the pending release list it goes! #SpringOfBlade

I'm in episode 3 of #AShopForKillers season 2 and it's lovely that JiAn has a friend now. I'm sure it's going to end badly for him because it's that type of show, but it's nice to see her form a connection so I'm going to enjoy the moment I'm in. My therapist would be pleased. 🤣

Whelp, I hadn't been intentionally avoiding Douyin micro vertical cdramas but I sure will be now. According to a recent Chinese government report, 95% of them are entirely AI and the example clips here show it's such good fakery I couldn't have spotted it. www.cbc.ca/player/play/...

Fact check: Is Chinese AI replacing actors?

The rise of AI video-generation tools like Seedance is taking jobs away from actors in China’s short drama industry.

The #jdrama Labyrinth of Hortensia and the Minotaur has been added to Viki's coming soon! I've been intrigued by the teaser since I first read it: A "mystery centered around a set of 200-year-old human remains discovered in the Himalayas, whose DNA perfectly matches that of a missing step sister" 🤔

The promotional poster for the jdrama Labyrinth of Hortensia and the Minotaur. Five Japanese actors' faces in a line, two women to the left, a woman and man to the right, and Yamada Ryosuke in the middle foreground. The background is hazy pale greens, while the spaces beneath and around the actors' faces is full of weedy wildflowers. The text is all in Japanese except the subtitle reading Labyrinth of Hortensia and the Minotaur

I don’t know why that 6 month old video is making the rounds again… you know the one, with that guy talking about how he thinks Netflix’ big budgets have stifled #kdrama creativity… But I think Farnes’ comment from 6 months ago is still relevant and the best response I’ve seen.

One thing I have learned from all my #kdrama watching is that 1 busybody is annoying but a group of 3 busybodies is fun (a twosome can go either way). What's the plural noun for busybodies? A Gossip? A Fuss? An Interference?

Several conversations this week have lead me to think that some folks in my life believe I'm chill, capable, and unbothered, like a posh bengal kitty. Deep in my soul, however, I know I'm a Pallas cat.

Brown and tan striped Bengal cat looks calmly at the camera.

Grey, fluffy Pallas cat is yawning with its tongue out, so that looks like it's either screaming or about to vomit. Its eyes are wide open and it looks seriously stressed out.

Grey, fluffy Pallas cat with a spots pattern on the top of its head is glaring grumpily, but with an air of defeatist resignation.
