Zero Hour: the campaign for climate and nature @zero-hour.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
👏 Fantastic news that the UK intends to invest £400m in the Tropical Forest Forever Facility. This is a result of a huge effort across orgs and MPs, including the CNCC, who, alongside @ldnc-uk.bsky.social brought together 60 cross-party MPs to write to the PM at COP30 and help secure this pledge.

Up and down the country, communities are already benefiting from climate action and the clean energy transition. But after a summer of extreme weather, we need to go further to help communities prepare for the impacts of climate change while supporting them to protect and improve their communities.

The UK’s climate action is working. We are cutting emissions, growing clean energy and showing that tackling climate change can strengthen our economy and energy security. After a summer of extreme weather, now is the time to reaffirm our climate commitments, not abandon them.

Nature improves our health, strengthens communities and helps us cope with extreme heat. Everyone should be able to enjoy these benefits. We're calling on the Government to guarantee access to nature for every community and publish a comprehensive Access to Nature Strategy.

Access to nature shouldn't be a postcode lottery. 🌿 Yet, despite Government commitments, 1 in 5 households in England still can't reach a green or blue space within a 15-minute walk. Our new analysis with @the-wildlifetrusts.bsky.social shows which constituencies are missing out most.

“It is fantasy and fabrication to pretend there is a solution in the North Sea to high energy prices” @eddavey.libdems.org.uk response to the King’s Speech sets a clear choice: keep relying on volatile fossil fuels, or invest in British renewables to strengthen energy security and bring down bills.

🔶There is a unique opportunity to build a winning coalition with bold leadership on nature & climate. 🔶Local environmental concerns resonate powerfully — from protecting green spaces, investing water company fines into nature and more environmentally friendly new build homes.

The findings show: 🔶 Lib Dem voters rank environment as a top 3 issue - twice as much as the general public. 🔶 Environmental issues motivated many to vote Lib Dem last year. 🔶 They want strong local and national action.
