Engineers are typically high in anti-social, Schizoid, Narcissistic, and/or autistic traits, they're nerds, geeks, freaks, and weirdos. Which means they come off like defensive dickheads to the general public, even if they're well-meaning really cool people once you get to know them.

@carlrichell.bsky.social the reason this conflict is happening is because you're not shielding your Engineering Team from the Public. You should hire a Project Manager and create your own internal Project Issue Tracker. Let a PM deal with the public Repos. Engineering staff + End Users != good.

Even those who would critique capital end up reinforcing it instead. because the system requires constant growth, it is forced to constantly expand its boundaries—eventually turning its gaze inward to privatize and commodify human experience, public services, and political outrage.

Not discounting the fact that open source maintainers are probably dealing with a flood of "ai slop", which has become their favorite narcissistic ivory tower go to response.

bsky.app/profile/lcst... Have you considered that people with this opinion are partly motivated potentially by ideology, and more deeply by narcissistic defensiveness? Because often their derision is rooted in emotional defensiveness.

An ad that argues private equity has too much power is taken down off the air by a private equity funded company that owns the team, the TV station that airs the team’s games, and the newspaper that covers the team. Platner couldn’t have written the script better himself.

Platner responds to Bezos’s claim that doubling his taxes isn't going to make a difference to a teacher earning a low salary.
Screenshot of a post from @MarcoFos... (Marco Foster) on X, posted 5 hours ago, quoting Graham Platner calling out Jeff Bezos, arguing that targeting hoarded wealth and redirecting it to social programs like healthcare, childcare, and teacher pay would improve working Americans' lives, and dismissing Bezos's arguments as propaganda designed to protect himself and his wealthy allies. Below is an MSNBC All In with Chris Hayes video still showing Bernie Sanders and Platner side by side, with a chyron reading "Bezos: Billionaire Tax Hikes Won't Help Americans."

"if you thought of your core skill as being the technical act of translating a detailed description of a solution created by someone else into working code, then I'm afraid you have a problem, because AI can do that now, and it can do it more quickly and more cheaply than we human beings can. "

I believe this is a first. The consumer-facing financial media is calling Wall Street "delusional." Accurate. Surprising nonetheless.

3 charts reveal how delusional Wall Street is being about the Middle East conflict
Wall Street is often an optimistic bunch when it comes to estimating future sales and profits from corporate America. But what's on display right now from the Street borders on absurdity.

No worries, news says Iran war over tomorrow. Also everything's back to normal, all that critical industrial infrastructure that's been destroyed in the Middle East is now repaired. And everyone's in a rush to send tankers through the straight, no problem. Also war is peace, freedom is slavery....

You've just made the strongest argument for why experienced developers should adopt AI tools, not avoid them. If codebase familiarity is the key to driving the model well — then the maintainer IS the ideal user.

Loose Cannon @lcstyle.bsky.social · 04/04/2026
The question isn't whether unskilled people will misuse powerful tools — of course they will. The question is what happens when skilled people use them well. That's the part this thread skips.

Loose Cannon @lcstyle.bsky.social · 04/04/2026
The only people qualified to use [compilers/IDEs/Stack Overflow/npm packages/AI] are people who understand what the tool is doing under the hood." This argument has been made about every productivity leap in software for 60 years. It's always correct, and it never stops adoption.

Loose Cannon @lcstyle.bsky.social · 04/04/2026
This thread will age the same way every "you're not a real developer if you use X", or "you're not a real programmer unless you use X" thread has aged.
000
Loose Cannon @lcstyle.bsky.social · 04/04/2026
at what point does "you must understand every line yourself", become the new "real programmers use assembly"? The entire argument here assumes AI capability is static. Every month the gap between "AI slop" and "AI-augmented expert work" narrows.

And this is how I know grapheneOS is probably just a spin off of the famed ANOM sting. You corral all the rebels into a certain little paddock where you want them. No one in the empire is free to not comply with laws, unless the empire itself allows it. There is no such thing as an outlaw anymore.

Calling LLM code “slop” is like mocking a pilot for not inventing aerodynamics. The system is the achievement. The operator is leverage. If it works, maybe the insult says more about you than the code.

Loose Cannon @lcstyle.bsky.social · 22/03/2026
Pilots don’t flap their arms—they fly planes built by thousands. LLM coders don’t “write” every line—they steer systems built by thousands. If it works, is it slop… or just leverage you don’t like?
