That's getting close to an *100%* markup on supermarket prices, which I last checked this morning. It's bad but it's not THAT bad.

Friends of Kirikiriroa, you must all know someone who played a wind instrument in their youth and hasn't picked it up in years who would enjoy a social band experience working towards amazing music? Please PLEASE prompt them to have a go!

Our mini chopper attaches to our stick blender, which is much more manageable than hauling out the food processor. We also have a teeny USB powered one that will only do like 1/2 cup max but is perfect for pastes and marinades.

One of the scientists profiled in the Save Science Coalition “Underfunding Our Future” report talked about the likelihood exactly this scenario would occur, because this is the job he used to do.

I am never surprised by the ways people can find to make gender an important variable regardless of the facts

That surprises me less, but always good to have actual data on these things

A word at the end of the day about people saying "I'm okay with drug testing if all MPs have to do it". No. That is *not* where we want to go. Part of the danger of National's stunt policy is that it sets us off down a slippery slope where the privacy and human rights of *everyone* are infringed.

It *has* occurred to me that a really evil thing to do would be to have no stipend amount prescribed for the new grant system in order to encourage a race to the bottom.

To be clear by “there” I meant Southshore specifically. Many other parts of the city are fine! But the sea is gonna eat that bit. When, who knows, but it *will* happen.

My usual rule of thumb is to have 1-2 things you want to do on a given day and then figure out exact timing and order as you go. Definitely only one Thing a day that has a booked timeslot.

Oh hey me too! Aside from the general benefits it was also immediately useful because when I got to postgrad science courses and was expected to read journal articles then come to seminars and discuss them, I was comfortable with the process. The science-only students were bewildered.

A world where queerness exists is a bar all sorts of conservative to actively homophobic fiction manages to scramble over. In older works the language doesn't always make it obvious to the modern reader, but that doesn't mean it's absent!

When I lived in Massachusetts, in mid-winter the sun was up approx 7am-4pm so on cloudy days it was pretty dark by 3. Didn't love it!

It does! It was just such a perfect illustration of how contingent accents are on a given person's life history, rather than being a foolproof indicator of where they grew up.
