We shouldn't assume that people with severe mental illness (SMI) can't cope with cancer treatment. In our study, people with SMI described drawing on existing resilience strategies to navigate cancer. Care should recognise these strengths, rather than assume they're absent. 📄 shorturl.at/DMidY

Linking physical activity, health, prevention, devolution, place-based working, system change & improved outcomes. It's great working within Greater Manchester right now. And @gmmoving.bsky.social is delighted to submit to DHSC's NHS 10-Year Plan consultation. Link: gmmoving.co.uk/news/gm-movi...
What we hope to see:

Movement and physical activity at the heart of the health system to achieve the prevention agenda.
A demonstrable commitment to the prevention agenda and the role communities can play in a social model for health.
A clear commitment to place-based working, recognising the huge benefits of budgets and decision-making being closer to service users.
A whole-system approach to ensure long-lasting behaviour change and wider health benefits.
Cross-department, policy, and programme working, recognising the role devolution and associated bodies (e.g. ICSs) play in creating the conditions for healthy lives.
