lane keeping in tesla is a per-month subscription also, the UI goes fully distracting mode
Tesla dashboard in an Irish car showing what they call level 1 automation: lane keeping, on a active UI w/ a literal scrolling rainbow road to distract the driver

``` but look, you found the notice, right? yeah, yes i did, at the back of a disused wall in tiny font, behind a pair of extinguishers emblazoned with “beware of the leopard” ``` this is how a place in town meets their GDPR obligation to notify people that there's CCTV in operation
gotta be the height of hypocrisy to write a fiction book about a Britain paralysed by the incompetence of the those with more breeding than objective merit -- and then does that and you must have stumbled on his sprout current Lord Young on twitter, @toadmeister and probably blocked him too
Google knows this number as being the Central Statistics Office but they had been marking it as spam automatically, and didn't show any info until I manually clicked “not spam” now it confesses that the number was known to be the CSO cc @csoireland.bsky.social i didn't pick up your calls
how dafuq is polio coming back, the last American on an iron lung just died mid July this year ““Wastewater Detections in Developed Nations: In recent years, health authorities detected traces of poliovirus in sewage systems in major metropolitan areas like London, New York, and parts of Germany”””
As of August 2026, Martha Ann Lillard was the last known American to rely on an iron lung, having passed away on June 26, 2026, at the age of 78. Lillard contracted polio in 1953 at five years old, leaving her paralyzed with severely limited lung capacity. For over seven decades, she relied on the negative-pressure ventilator to breathe. Her death from chronic pulmonary failure and post-polio syndrome followed the breakdown of her vintage machine and a battle with long-haul COVID-19.
look at all this anti-social housing built up here in Dublin 1, >17 stories, with even further hidden behind these, and at least 3 new whole blocks being built to the right we can't have that in this little country that couldn't -- i may be extra salty today re: planning objections
will you look at that, famous enabler of neil's depredations also has only good words to say about the deceased groomer i haven't checked if gaiman himself also has similarly rosy and carefully edited opinions re: grooming, but then again i don't need to check
i can recommend the kallax from ikea over their standard billy: the former has enough depth to stack two rows of books the extra few centimeters pay off
in relative terms the USA is also ripping off its citizens, electricity-wise [see below] but that's still 0.18eur/kWh, vs the 0.29eur/kWh rate i'm on, before the yearly standing charge, PSO levy and sales tax
wouldn't more books [to displace the tchotchkes] solve this? btw my better half found that the IKEA Kallax has enough depth for two layers of books, so you can put shorter ones on cardboard "pedestals” at the back to have them peek above shorter ones in the front [or tall ones in the back, etc]
one would hope that, after 14yrs, someone would've explained how that's the whole exact point: the last note from the titular song in The Phantom of the Opera is meant to be a blood-curdling scream
ah, the experience of having to deal w/ mygovid's “verification failed” “you can get a PSC online, just use the app!” said app's welcoming screen on first run: “this page is not available -- retry” [endless retry loop ineffective]
[correction to the above: lockups are in fact earlier, i forgot that they also didn't abide by the usual 6 months so i'd expect any wave to end no later than early Dec, but the first 10-Q is in early Q4, and lockups start opening as early as August note also how they don't do blackout windows!!]
it's when they start talking about automating lawyers and >accountants< that you can just assume “eejit” and not worth listening to then again, the eejit was moaning about Portugal the other day, because customs forced him to open his bags off his private jet -- here's what he had to say:
there's no objective in Taiwan which China needs to win by destruction, when all they have to do is just sit back and wait for the USA to piss people off essentially the theme behind this cover
re-watching Stargate SG-1, their depictions of a black hole don't include the grav effect that lets us see the far-side, tilted upwards they still show it as a flat disk: which it is, just not visible as such to us in our frame of reference cc @kweenmedb.bsky.social our Irish science correspondent
anyway, more background info: the breakers [or MCBs] are over-current protection, or in other words: to protect the wiring itself if there's a short that allows a ton of current to flow, causing sparks and eventually a fire MCBs won't trip if the current is passing through a person here's my board
personally i think it's deeply offensive to be held for ransom by the sort of thick-mince brainef arse who thinks Papa Don Trump has nothing to do with this
```
One person in one group asked if protesters should blockade Donald Trump's Doonbeg hotel, to which someone replied: “He's got nothing to do with it so no”
